Hey all, I read a couple of things about this throttle body (the 62mm) and I have to say that I'm a little confused... I read about changing sensors and stuff like that.. Can I use the stock one or I have to get new ones. I know that it's bolt-on, but is there anything to be careful with when installing??? My other question is : Is there any ported intake manifold for the eco, I read a how-to-do to make a porting to the intake manifold, but I'm sure that I'll mess it up so I prefer to buy one. By the way I can't afford to pay 1000$ for an intake manifold.. Thanks
just have a machine shop port your stock manifold. i guess you can keep your old sensors when putting the the 62 mm TB
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
if I remember correctly its the same TB, just bored out to 62mm and has a larger butterfly installed. All the stock sensors should work perfectly and be a complete bolt on
I'm going to the junkyard tomorrow to get some HVAC knobs that I messed up (try to paint them, but the result was ugly so I'll just put them clears) and I'll ask if they have an intake manifold for my car and how much, if it's a cheap price, I'll get an extra one in case (and this is my daily car so I can't have it non-working for too long. By getting another one, I'll just have to remove the stock one and put the ported in. But I'll see, if I find a machine shop that can get it out port it and put it back on, but I don't think this will happen... Thanks for your help
Ok I'll answer your questions.
The 62 MM TB (which I have installed on my car) is the stock throttle body but bored out with a bigger plate. Installation of it is actually pretty simple. I believe you just need basic tools and Allen keys (if I remember correctly). If you take it to a shop to bore it out, you can run into chances that they do a bad job and the black isn't big enough...then you'll run into problems, high rev idling, bad gas mileage etc.
There are currently 3 intake manifolds available:
GM Intake manifold - made for pretty much if you have a drag car...uses an LS1's throttle body.
Venom Performance - That is the same style as the stock one big flanges, less restrictive.
Twistec Performance - This is a log style manifold that is more useful if you are boosted (turbo).
The other possibility like 99redz24 said is to have someone dremel your stock one out.

Did someone know what's the price of a stock intake manifold for an ecotec, I'm seaching but I don't find anything (cause I wan't to be sure that I'll have a good price at the junkyard for one and don't want to get one for more that it cost new...)

Best I can say is search classifieds on here, ebay & more junkyards. I did know a link for junkyards around the US...if I remember it, I'll post it.

HAHA tell me about it...what a rip off. It will eventually go down to the price of a 2.4 Manifold but I'm sure it will be real benificial for me since I have headwork done but I'm not getting it...ambitions of getting the GM Charger when it's released.
He's better off getting the stock manifold from GM.
