I'm pretty sure the 4th letter in the VIN is still J though, IIRC.

the cobalt is called an "A" body car. completely different car suspension, brakes,
interior, wheels, hell everything. except the motor. and if my friend is right the cobalt ss
wheels WILL fit a cavalier or sunfire, thats only the ss thou cause the others use a 4 lug wheel.

ok hear you go. i WORK FOR G.M. in the parts dept. at a dealership in maryland. yes
it is a delta body very good but G.M. refers to the car as an "A" body ! dont ask me why
i too would have thought it should have been a "D" body BUT ITS NOT! now acidburn
and 99redz24 go ahead call your local dealer and ask what the cobalt is listed as.
cobalt is an "A" body, cavalier "J" body, "L" body is the equinox (its listed as a car), you have 2 malibus a "N" body and a "Z" body, "T" body is aveo, while both the venture and uplander are listed as "U" body cars, "V" body is an epica?, "W" is both impala and monte carlo, "X" body is a 4x4 uplander (still listed as a car?) "Y" body is a corvette
been that way since 1953. now i have no idea why G.M. lists the mini vans in with the cars or the equinox for that matter either, maybe its cause they dont have full frames? who knows? but i do know the cobalt is an "A"body car ! if anyone would care to place a small waiger on this i'll be takeing any suckers .... ah i mean bets!

if your not sure of something dont confuse the newbies let someone answer who
does know. i'm not trying to pick a fight or be a smarta$$ but please dont say i'm clueless when i look at this $h!t everyday.

b.t.w. "A" bodies used to be chevelles, monte carlos malibus and el caminos and the "X" body cars used to be the citation which was the pre runner for the "J" body

hope this clears up any confusion.

again hotlilcav is right it is a delta body chassis but g.m. refeers to it as an "A" body
i would have thought everyone would have liked to know the correct name that g.m.
calls the car.

again taking ALL bets i'll start at $100.00 per person. this is great i'll clean up!!! g.m.
ALWAYS denotes there cars in an alpabetical way NOT an intire name like delta.

any takers on the bet?

i need new rims anyway you all would be helping me out greatly.

Yes jackalope is correct it is an a body if you called me in my gm parts department and asked for parts for a delta platform i would probably hang up on you the fourth letter of the vin is the body line of the car and a cobalt is an A the coupe is A37 sedan A69. the last car built on the A body designation was the chevy celebrity.

Could it possibly be because delta looks like a triangle just like a capital "A" does. And most keyboards in the US, and those used by GM North America I'm sure, don't have a delta key.

Yea, but the only other reason I can think of is a complete schizoid fit, and I like to think GM is better than that. They're not, but the fantasy that everything is checked an done for a good reason is comforting when driving down the road at 70MPH in their 2000lb death trap.

99redz24 well all i can say is dont just take my word for it matt said the same thing. from the looks of it we both work for g.m. please dont think im a smart ass most
of what i post here is put here with a smile on my face i'm not looking for a fight.

the cobalt is the third car i can think of thats called an "A" body first was chevelles monte carlos and such. then came the the celebrity. now the cobalt.

newbie the cobalt IS an "A" body, if it makes people fell better to refer to it as a
" delta chassis " then whatever. if you want to call it by the CORRECT name...
then call it an "A" body.

and 99redz24 i do still expect my $100.00.

hey jackalope-- thanks for the compliment! Feel free to use the sig for yourself if you want to (changing the bottom to your own pic and name). Another member has already done that.
