ok i drive a 99 2200 sunfire five speed all it has on it is a intake right now but by the end of this year i would really like to have a mid 14 sec car what would be the safest and cheepest way to get that out of my car or is it just not worth it
50 shot of nitrous would be the fastest and cheapest way

If you arent looking to do forced induction, which eliminates nitrous.
Weight reduction, pull out the back seat, spare tire, system, do things like custom 2.25 exhaust, cams, pulleys, motor mounts Prolly wont get you quite mid 14s, but if you are good enough of a driver you could hit 14s im guessing.
Nitrous is the best bang foryour buck

Just spend the money on the RSM charger kit, but to be honest the 2200 motors are very difficult to get into the 14's with N/A modifications. I'm not saying it can't be done I'm just saying it will take a lot of time, work, and money.
Asta La Vista OHV!! Defined Parts
cheapest=nitrous
not so cheap=boost it

i dont think a NA 2.2 has even touched 14s.

my NA 2.2 probably doesn't even touch 17s.
definitely going with nitrous would be the cheapest and easiest way.

What you know about Street Racing anyways? Only what Fast & Furious taught us....
SO EVERYTHING!
Gotta remember though, the original poster said cheapest AND safest. N2O may be the cheapest, but it's also not the safest. If you know what you're doing with it, and get it installed well, it's safe enough; but if you do something wrong- BLAMMO! Not to mention scorched heads, burnt rings, and all the other fun stuff that can come from having a little TOO much fun with the juice even if it is installed correctly.
I think your safest bet- turbo charge it. True, it'll cost you between 3 and 4 grand to do it, but if you want to hit 14's, speed costs $. Also, the newer turbos (the good ones anyway) have really reduced spool up time, plus you have the BOV to prevent pressure from blowing your heads (assuming you're running a safe level of boost- have to talk to the guys in the boost forum to find out what levels to run on what kind of engine setup).

Stop thinking Borsty
Theres been a handful that have but thats it
And they spent quite a bit of money on their engines
try engine swap....2.2 Ecotec or 2.4.....
CaviFL45
wut about the 3400 ... is that hard to do
with any engine swap its hard to do. unless you are swapping the same motor.

I duno, nitrous if installed properly and tuned can be run safely, no worse than boost imo. Just hear more about n2o causing problems cause it is cheaper and people think they can just slap it on. You can do a turbo setup for less than 1500, if u part it together. Install/tune will be extra, but you can get materials for it for less than 1500

um... damn well i think i might just sell it i do really like it and all but i want somthing that can do a mid 14 sec 1/4 with out speending 3-4k on it idk dosnt seem worth it to me
i run 14.7 on a 50 shot. but i have 2.4

My ecotec runs about very high 15's. The ecotec motor puts out more horsepower, but that would be a very expensive swap.
Have you tried just driving very fast.
New Picture comming this summer.

Couple of problems with your advice there.
1.) The Blow-Off Valve is not on there to protect your engine, it is to protect the Turbo. The BOV prevents Compressor Surge when the throttle is closed. When you lift off the throttle, the butterfly closes abruptly and the air bounces off of that plat and reverses direction, now since a BOV is a one-way check-valve, it allows air through it when the throttle is open, but opens when the air comes through the wrong way. This prevents the air from wanting to turn the compressor wheel the wrong way, while the Turbine wheel is still being spun by the Exhaust, which you can imagine is very bad juju.
2.) Yes, Nitrous can hurt your engine by doing all those things you just mentioned, but I can do the same things with any engine. I can burn up an engine just as easily with an improperly tuned N/A car as I can with a 300-shot on a 2200, a slight exaggeration, but you get my point. If the person that installs the nitrous kit knows what they are doing, and you don't use too big of a shot then nitrous is just as safe as any other power adder, and it's a lot cheaper.
Yella02-I promise I will return to you in one piece and this will stay up until I am safely home
Thanks for setting me straight on that. I'm still learning about boost. I think what I meant to be referring to was the wastegate.
