Just wandering...my fiancee just bought a 96' pontiac sunfire with GTO emblems all over it. The emblems look like they came from the factory as there sewed on to the driver and passenger seats and are pasted on the front and rear bumper. It's diffenetly not a GT model as it doesn't have that trim....anyone heard of it?
I dunno man it seems pretty legit to me and I can tell you that it also handles stock much better then my 2003 sunfire did when it was stock. The GTO sign is actually carved into the front bumper I'll get a pic up this afternoon. It doesn't show GTO in the registration or anything...wierd

Straight from the FAQ page...
The Cavalier has been offered in an extremely wide variety of models and trim-line designations. For example: RS, LS, LS Sport, Z24, Type-10, CL, VL, VLX, CS, and CX that designated major performance equipment and options. The Sunfire has had almost as many models and trim packages, with SE, SL, SLX, GT and GTX. Note that these were the official GM-offered packages, not including dealer-installed badging or stickers.
Cavaliers have also appeared (unofficially) with GT, SS, Z22 and Z23 that were dealer-applied graphics and/or interior equipment packages.
Sunfires have been reported with GTO designations as well, also dealer-installed badging.
So yes, it is dealer rice.

Stickers are one thing but would they actually take the time to sew in the GTO logo on both the driver and passenger seat. Looks factory to me but I'll let u guys be the judge of that. Once I get home from work I'll post the pics.
I see sunfire GTOs quite often here in ottawa...the sticker however is located just infront of the rear wheel wells...usually white.

My boyfriend works at a dealership and knows first hand about sending things off and putting "dealer rice" on them, including seats, rims, etc on new and used cars. So yes, a dealership would do something like that because some unfortunate soul doesnt know better and will come around thinking they are getting this awesome "special" car and will pay more for it but really all they are getting is a base model car with add ons that dont even exsist to the manufacturer.
Hell, my sisters best friend bought a cavalier that she thought was a Z22 but really it just some stickers, head rest embrodiery w/ "Z22" and a sunfire wing. The dealership definitaly took her for that one.

This post is worthless without pics...
But, the GTO Sunfire was a dealer added option. Theres a Cavalier GT in town here. It's an 03 with a Sunfire spoiler and racing stripes from an Extreme.
Sounds like it was done in a professional manner from the dealer, I wanna see pics!!

Of course, there are plenty of people complaining that the GTO is a bloated Cavalier anyway - so what's the difference? LOL

Pontiac Sunfire GTO?
Wanna see a closeups of those cool headrests
the car is nothing special...as said above it is dealer rice.. the dealer had the headrests embroidered and the stickers put on...
I remember I looked at a car once at a dealership, they put a body kit on it, some graphics and a spoiler and they added four thousand dollars to the price of the car... I'm like... HAHA... no.

The Cavaliers with the 4-door sunfire wing and racing stripes was a FACTORY option, not a dealer one. It was for the LS Sports, if you would use the search button you would know that because a thread was created when the option became available and people started noticing.
Looked something like this?
Here is another example of "dealer rice"...its a "Cavalier SS"
