So engine and trans are pulled
To make room for some LE61 Goodness!
We at KGM have been having issues running bigger cams on our hybrid builds, if its not one thing its another. So i have decided to run stock l61 cams and see how it goes. Making this a torquey little beast. Le5 intake mani will be used along with a rebuilt l61 head. Im currently in the process of tearing the le5 down to the block. Head and trans should be here next week. been flip flopping on a manual swap but for a dd im going to keep it auto, maybe down the road who knows. Exhaust will be upgraded to 2.5", pacesetter header, magnaflow cat, and cobalt ss/tc muffler, keeping it quiet.
Suspension will consist of koni yellows and possibly Ground controls
Interior will get some subtle upgrades, black leathers will go in from my other cav along with some plaid for sh!ts and giggles.
Exterior will stay mostly stock. 03+ lss rear and sides, keeping front bumper and lip, wheels maybe white or bronze not sure yet of type or brand. oem carbon hood and possibly trunk.
More will come as i go along. Plan is to have it running and tuned by the end of july.

Damn man I think you got one hell of a deal..even if it did have 170,000 miles on her..Still a clean azz car tho for having that many miles!! But Im gonna be tunned in to this also..I realy like these build threads, its so many things you can learn and LOTS of great craftmanship and fab work to be amazed at!! So what are you doing for an intake? I put the LE5 manifold on and currently am using a flex tubing, but would love to get rid of it.

i know in the cavs ive installed le5manifolds in we also ran the aem cold air intake. needed adjustment but works fine.
Dang it...swapped it with the guy that fixed the car for me. The manifold was taller and closer to the radiator support. We couldn't get it to slide over the throttle body.
My rksport intake worked with the LE5 intake manifold without issue.
Excited to see this car put together!
So its time for an update. Have been busy collecting parts. I tossed the stock and drive Idea out and decided to put some power into it. So heres what we got.....The Stock head and cams idea, out the window. Picking up a slightly modded head with 1mm stainless over sized valves. As for the rest of the valve train heres what i picked up.
Supertech Spring Kit:
Cams are being sent out probably tomorrow to Delta Cams for a custom grind. Specs are about comp stage 2's. $125 a cam plus shipping so about $300 a set of custom cam grinds.
Thanks to Dave (Whitecavy) A nice 3000 Yank Converter will be going in. Trans is getting picked up tomorrow which has 14k on it, so nice and fresh.
OF course the block will be full of forged LE5 goodness
Exhaust is complete. Tsudo Header, high flow cat, 2.5" piping and a ss/tc cobalt muffler to finish it off.
Also picked up an aem wideband and a new set of drilled and slotted rotors.
So come next weekend i should be ready to start putting it all back together.
