Good-Bye Gertrude. Hello, White Knight

so, you guys saw the pictures of my silver sedan, Gertrude. well after numerous issues with the car bc the guy in charge of keeping it up before I bought it failed miserably, and the fact that driving an auto has bored me to almost insanity, I have finally relieved these issues. I aquired this little thing a couple weeks ago, so big thanks goes out to Mike Torres for finding it and linking it to me. so, here's the run down:

- 2000 Pontiac Sunfire SE sedan
- 2200 with 165k
- paid $700 for the car, $150 in gas and $40 in tolls. me and a buddy towed it from Miami to Ocala, about 260 miles (not counting the drive there) with his Nissan Titan
- it was only $700 bc it had a blown head gasket. what I didn't know was that the body wasn't in that great of shape. while it hasn't been in any major accidents, the front passenger side fender was clipped in a parking spot, and bent it so badly, it catches the door and shotgun bangs. there is a dent in the driver's door, as well as small acorn dings here and there

so here ya go:

and since we all love manual sedans...

the interior is in really good shape, just kinda ugly. I want to get a set of red-speckled Z24 seats, and have the armrests recovered as well. the only real flaws are the exposed speakers, the shift boot ring is broken, and the shift knob itself is jacked up (pops on and off)

the plan, is a 2000-2002 Cavalier LSS/Z24 front with a W-Type lip (already bought), IF skirts, 02 or 03 LSS rear, and a spoilerless deck. VHT'ed and polished tails by my buddy Sean and some satin black-housing projector headlights with matching corners. and since none of the panels will match, I'm gonna spray it satin white for now (hence the name), and when I can, get it all redone in Victory Red in a professional shop. performance wise, the old exhaust from The Black Pearl , a CAI and maybe some HPT to help get all the mileage possible out of the 2200, which after replacing the head and valve cover gaskets, runs like a champ. thanks again to Torres for patrolling CL like a boss lol

sorry bro, we left 9am and didn't get down there til 3.. and since I wasn't driving, I didn't wanna hold up my buddy who seemed antsy to get home anyway

John, the silver car is still having grounding issues, and I think the starter is gonna go soon. for $200, this car is running great now.. its just a couple of panels that need replaced or repaired. and since Mark's shut down for good, we have no more local yards to pick from and the last 2 months have been devoted to getting into an apt, so my time has been short. besides, the guy that bought Jesse's Sunfire wants it for what I've got into this new car, including registration. I'm out no money, and I finally got the manual sedan I've been wanting for yrs now

AZN, that was the plan before. I knew it needed as much body work as it needs. I already have everything I need for the conversion minus the front bumper, which is why I was asking about yours a few weeks ago.. and unfortunately, none of the panels are already red

Eww gross another sedan
J/k. Glad you got another project. Hope your new apt complex doesn't restrict you being able to work on your car there!
When you said you were painting it white i must not have heard that it was red now... just repaint the pieces your replacing black, wont look HALF bad lol, but i understand the want for a one colored car lol. Good luck with it, looks like a good start!

thanks Jess. but if I repaint all the replacement panels black, from the front doors forward will be black, and the trunk and rear bumper will be black. the roof and back doors will be red.. LOL. oh, and the complex is cool. it's all duplexes on a loop, all owned by different ppl, so no one person has a say over the whole neighborhood. the guy that owns my building said as long as its tagged and will fire up under it's own power, it's all good. and to make my news even better, it won't cost me $400+ to tag is like I thought. I completely forgot about my Mk2 Jetta.. they're gonna credit me for it's old plate, so it's only gonna run me $60. BIG RELIEF

I'm gonna comb over that fender, Fluffy. it does look like it has a dent in the one pic, but I dont remember one being there

Since you bought it so cheap, do some REAL mods to it and swap in an (hate to say it) ECO and be done with it engine wise??

that'd be later down the road since the 2200 is perfectly fine. besides, I already got the Black Pearl for going fast. this car will primarily be driven by my gf since she's on mommy duty

mommy duty...ugh....way to make me sound like a soccer mom or something...:-p

she'll EVENTUALLY have an ECO, once the 2200 decides to throw up on itself, which i'm sure it will at some point. pretty sure all she's getting for now is all the ugly fixed, a white spray bomb, wheels and MAYBE interior work and lowered (i really have no clue)

oh and she's getting a companion cube vinyl in the back window....:-p

May the odds be ever in you favor.....

if I wanna pull some performance out of this thing, I'll just throw my NX kit on it since I don't think it'll make it's way into the Pearl..

and babe, I'm not counting on this motor to pop for a long time. aside from a couple incidents, I've seen everyone with a 2200 have good luck with them. it stays put until it NEEDS to come out
