Here's some quick updates as to what I have been up to. @!#$ty cell pics, but they get the point across.
Leather Grand Am GT knob, Still gotta cut down my stick a little to make it look right.
Auto-Dim Rear View, Not wired in yet. I will do that when I got it apart installing the 18" LED courtesy lights on the bottom of the doors.
AAannnnnd.....Neon Disc Swap. Lots of caked on @!#$.
After spending a few hours cleaning up one side..
Waiting on a quote from a local machine shop, If I don't like it, I will do it myself at work.
fuggin sweet buddy. didn't know u were auto?
Unfortunately, yes. I had all the parts for a 5 speed swap, but thats a long story. Next big project involves a 5 speed, 2 cams, and .2 more liters
Well, That's all I have showed for now
Auto dim ftw!!!!
how would you wire it up? I have a Grand prix compass+auto dim rear view sitting around in my garage.
Lucky for me, i got a buddy who worked for gentex (the company who makes most of them). So i told him what mirror i have, (wiring specific, i have a 3 wire) one is a hot, one negative and one chassis ground. I guess the chassis ground is a safety so if power gets killed, it will go back to clear. I wanted an auto dim with map lights but the only ones were onstar equipped. I do not want nor need onstar so i settled for the dim only mirror.

yeah, the lack of map lights was the reason i never installed the mirror.
what dims? the actual mirror?
oh thats nice... id like to get one of those. would help alot in a lowered car.

Yup, i just cant find any w/ map lights. which sucks the big one.
you could prolly find some for real cheap too
I just got sick of searching for one with map lights, but in other good news. I got my lines and fittings earlier. Pics later
Does the mirror mount to the same mount as a stock mirror?
Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
^^ I would assume so. they all basically mount the same way and if it mounts to the glass in its original car, then it should mount the same in ours.

Yes, I un-screwed mine and just slid this one on the same mount. It clips into place also. I think I'm going to hook it up this weekend
.
Got my lines and fittings for the neon swap today. They didn't have the russell lines in stock, But they are braided SS none the less. Got longer lines so I can run them like James did on 'Blu
Time to clean up the other side, Paint and get rotors and pads in two weeks. Then install, I'm pumped to have 4 wheel disc. I think I'm gonna swap to the early 90's corsica non-abs MC in the future..

Nice parts. Nice progress. I never thought about finding a auto dim mirror for the Cavy. You'll love it I'm sure.
However, I'm curious how to intend to install the 18 LED light modules under your doors.
They are a thin, flexible led strip. The car should have enough gap on the underside to let the door close without issue. The strips themselves are about 1/8" tall, if that. I know there is about 1/4" or more to work with in the gap.
Thanks guys, maybe it will be at the bash this year, rust and all
cant wait to get bodywork done
And on the seventh day, I did more @!#$....
Out with the old...
In with the new..
And it was good. Amen.
And yes, In the first pic, That is a drilled out hub torx bolt. I had the honor of having one strip out on me. After a few texts with Jeffie and more new cuss words being invented. I drilled the bitch out and got all new hardware. Didn't like the response I got from the machine shop, So I did the brackets myself. And as you can see, It fits.
It's cambered and spaced out too. But you gotta wait to see it

Hey front to back, what this run you, and how hard is it to do as far as drilling. I dont have access to a shop so keep that in mind. Thanks!!!!
I would have to dig up receipts to get a total cost. About $200 I would assume..Including all new lines, SS lines, Hub hardware, Hub spacers, Shims, Pads & Rotors, ect..
I used a 4" angle grinder to do my brackets, And a bi-metal hole saw to bore out the center. I think I used a 2 3/8" hole saw and with the O.D. of the saw, It matched up with my hub bore perfectly (Be careful, This is where all your measuring will need to be perfect. If your center hole is off, The whole setup is off.). Then I set my hubs in the brackets and drilled out the 4 holes accordingly. I did the top two holes first and dropped the bolts in just to hold it. The bracket under the bottom hub bolt holes is multi-level (Neon's original bolt holes.) And lets the drill bit walk towards the center. Just bolt in the top two and the bottoms will drill out no problem.
Super easy if you take your time.
More work to be done today, and pics to follow.
