I made a topic about a month and a half ago asking for some advice on wheels+tires. I ended up getting a set of
Akita Racing AK-25's, black with the silver lip from a local garage here. I went with the 17x7's. I think it looks so much better than the 14 inch steelies I have my winter tires on.
I ended up paying $1280 Canadian for the wheels and tires.
Here's the new setup from the driver's side, before I washed it.
And here from the passenger side, after I washed it.
And here is a closeup of one of the tires. Front passenger side, I believe.
The rubber is 215-45-R17, Durun Sport-One summer tires. I'd never heard of the brand before the guy at the shop recommended them, but I did some research and they are a European company. Any reviews I could find for the specific tire model were generally positive, especially mentioning the value for the price. A friend of mine actually got the same set of tires for his Celica a few weeks back and he told me that he is really really happy with them, and for the price ($95 Canadian) I figured it would be worth a shot. So far, I too am very pleased with them, though I haven't had any wet road experience (it's been nice and sunny the past few days) thus far.
So far I've gotten nothing but compliments from my friends and co-workers. What do you guys think?
not bad if thats what you want personaly i think black rims with a polished lip is wayy overplayed at least around where i live
Well to be quite honest I hardly see ANY vehicles around here that have any sort of aftermarket rims. The most common thing to see around here is lifted pickup trucks with
THESE .
Either way, I've only seen three vehicles (two of which are owned by the same guy) with black+silver-lip.
good start bro keep going with it, drop, lip kit, and window tint and call it a day for a good start

Window tint is most definitely in the near future. Sadly, windshield and front window tinting is illegal in my province, but all around the rear will be done.
The suspension has made a nasty squeaking noise for the past 10,000 kilometers or so, from the rear of the car whenever I hit a bump or take a turn quickly; basically whenever stress is put on the rear suspension. I'll likely wait until that needs to be taken care of, and just spring for a sport kit with a mild (1-2 inch) drop instead of a OEM-spec replacement.
I'm not entirely sold on the lip kit as of right now... I don't have a TON of extra money to be throwing around, so that might have to wait until I'm done university*.
My next major upgrade will be a modest exhaust and some form of intake. I don't want it to be too loud, but something comparable to the Z24 exhaust note would be much better than what I have.
Replacing the stock speakers, and possibly adding a modest sub/amp combo is also a guaranteed upgrade for this summer.
*If all goes according to plan, I'll be able to turn this car into a true track-demon in the year or two after I get my degree. I would LOVE to supercharge it sooner, but the money just isn't there to do it properly right now.
I like um. When you get the suspension figured out it'll look even better.

Yep, because nobody will really expect it.
