here you go. just got out in the garage for the first time since last fall. started work on the car because i got asked to have the car in a calander to help benefit the leukemia foundaton. down side is, the photoshoot is april 24, wich means i have 22 days to get the car running. heres where the car stands
in the fall we swapped in a new engine harness. i drove the car for 4-6 hours to work and around the neighborhood and such and had no trans or shifting problems at all. so crossed my fingers that this was the issue and hopefully now its solved. so being that the car is 10 years old its getting near the end of the modifcation process. dont see the since in dumping another 30k into it to change it around. so i made the decision to just go over the car, clean up stuff that has gotten away from me. make a few small changes. theres just a lot of little stuff ive wanted to clean up. me and chris gutted the car. pulled out about 70-80 feet worth of wire that was no longer needed and then it got cold and i got lazy. so last week we went to the junkyard and picked up a few pieces. so here's the big huge update.
out with the old.

thats right people. ditched the clear blue hvac knobs for some fresh black ones lol. i spent the rest of the day cleaning up the wiring on the floor. rerouting power lines. was able to remove about 10' of 4 gauge wire. i got the carpet back in the car and started working on the kickpods. got the passenger side cut and ready to go to the upohlster. hope to have the driver side done this week and hopefully my guy will get everything wrapped for me so i can button up the interior and nock it off the list. did get under the hood a bit, got the ecu routed back into the interior out of the way and started looking at how i can clean up the rest. hopefully next weekend i can get started on the trunk. need to get my airride setup so i can get the car off the ground. then it wil at least be driveable.
heres a few pics of my wiring mess. sad what happens after 10 years of adding and adding and changing around a car. sad part is i pretty much know what each wire is under there.

Like the updates, I have been thinking about going back to stock knobs as well lol.
I'm surprised you kept them that long. I got rid of mine after a month
Did your car come with the underlay from factory or did you add that yourself? My factory stuff stops just before the seats and the whole back was uncovered.
Good choice on the stock HVAC knobs.
Oh lawd... i see all those wires and now i know why you were trying to get me to come down to help.. hell no lmao
Best mod on mine was replacing my blue knobs for stock ones also haha. Looking good, get it moving!

Jason...It has been far too long.
Love those new style hvac knobs...where'd you get them? :p

yeah can you imagine all that wiring mess and that was after me and cris took about 75' or more of wire lol.
i had wanted to do billet knobs for the longest time, but never got around to having any made. and i never liked the stock grey knobs. but while walking the junkyard i spotted them. didnt even know they had black ones. was pretty happy lol.
damn vince its been a while, didnt even know u were still on the org.
and stephen, i wasnt going to have you work on the wiring. thats was pretty much my job since im the only one that knows what's what lol.
theres still a whole trunk to do. oh and the wiring in the engine bay lol.

I don't know I think the knobs are way to aggressive and they stick out to much, they don't flow with your crown royal shift boot. Wait, what?
That is funny right there. I literally just took out about 30 - 40 feet of wiring out of my car and started to remove old neons and strobes and crap. Same boat 8 years of owning the car = tons of wiring over a long period of time. I even disconnected all of my n20 wiring so I can re-route and re-wire the entire setup. Feels good to go through it all it just sucks though.
yeah allot of mine was neon wiring and just stuff like a 2 gauge wire going from the battery in the trunk up front to the alt. and then a 4 gauge wire going from the trunk to feed some stuff up front like my solenoids for my door poppers and such so i just tee'd into the 2 gauge. ran 4 gauge from drivers to passenger side and added a new fuse block and distribution and pulled out 10' of 4 guage. wish i would have had the desire to clean it up further. but i hate wiring with a passion. and i just dont have the time right now.
oh and bradsk888 all that damping was added. 2-3 layers on the entire car. over 330 sq. ft. of damping. one of the oldest things in the car actually.

Bahahaha.... I lawled. It is better though... and good look on all that wiring! I give you cred for dealing with that... hahaha.
ha ha....I think I had my clear knobs on for about a month, then reverted back to the stock ones....IMO..they started to look tacky after a while...Your fire is still on of my favorites of all time..
what a piece of @!#$....... BUT i love you still
You sir have the new record for longest post on a HVAC knob swap.
I was kind of disappointed, but it was funny
Good luck with the wiring. I had to double check when you said 4ga for door poppers.
I got really excited when I saw "major changes". Then I saw hvac knobs, and was like "oh..." Still a good decision though! I changed out my old clear knobs for stock black ones the other year and couldn't believe how much cleaner it looked.
lookn good. hopefully it actually runs for you this year.
