Finished install on my 3500 sunfire. Didn't keep a build update on here but I did on Facebook. Made a bit of a video for you folks, though. This is 2.25" exhaust with a cut out after a cat and resonator before the rear axle. Put an 01 getrag tranny to keep from blowing my old izuzu up, spec stage 3 clutch, ported heads, yada yada

now THAT is awesome. i dont believe ive ever heard of a full 3500 swap in a 3rd gen before..
good job man.
Underdog Racing
It sounds like there may have been one or two others. It was expensive, and there were alot of hangups. And even since this video I've spent more time working on it then I have driving it. Right now it's parked cause timing chain has stretched real bad from the cam and springs. Thankfully I've got pretty heavy support from a couple of 2nd gen 3500 swappers whom have run into the issue as well. A predated chain from a 3x00 is alot beefier, which I'm waiting for in the mail. Heheheh.
sweet. ive never heard of the chains having issues before, thats gotta suck.
i love my 60 degree V6's... they've hauled my ass around for daily drivers for the better part of a decade now. ive had one since i was 16.
Underdog Racing
Right on. It does pretty well. I need a bigger fuel pump (go figure) tables 7 percent from being maxed out. I figure after headers I should be in the mid to low 13s. But thats all theory, I'll just be happy to drive it for a while. Thanks again for the attaboy. appreciated mucho grande. I'll see if I can drum up some engine bay photos.
hahaha thats definitely gonna turn some heads. Great job!
nice. i know nothing of the 3500. but nice.
Heheh, basically it's significantly more powerful than the 3400. Breathes easier, heads flow better..etc. etc. Not to mention ''theres no replacement for displacement' I got a pretty good deal on the motor, and it was almost as difficult to do the 3400 so figured why not.
sweetness. i love crazy swaps. i'm down for a 350 small block next. or a 454. i know i know, a guy can dream can't he?
Awesome job that thing sounds like sweet sweet love.
I accidentally the SHIFT LIGHT!!!!!!!!!!
The proper way of using the word seen. It is not I seen it that would be I saw it. He has seen the car is the right way to use the word. English class is Cool. By the way thats my sig

The same here........ is the 3800 a more difficult swap or the same? either way the car sounds great and i imagine it runs even better.

3800 Is more difficult to swap in, also it's heavier. The 3500 Is pretty efficient as far as power goes. The only cars worth telling about I've raced is an STI (Highway pull, mowed him down in fourth) and a 3500 Sunbird, whom has ran 13.7 Before he put the headers on. Completely even race against him, that STI got ate. - Not to mention I can still boost it if I want to down the road.

love that aggressive sound
It definitely surprises people. I had originally planned on doing side pipes before the rear wheels cut out in the skirts, doing it up real nice and all that. but the sleeper quality is just too good to go back on.
id still like to see pics of the swap. and you should try gettin a video of acceleration while in car too.
nice job on a not so average swap, thing has a great tone. that thing is almost as loud as my car.
alright cool. i just looked at the pics...looks good in there.
Thanks thanks. Hopefully I can get a cheap daily driver through the winter and have some funds to build some shorty headers, if not it's whatever, it still has more potential though.
Love it, sounds awesome. I've been in and around a 3400swapped fire before and it was pretty quick, be tthis thing is hella fun to drive.
If you like the smell of burnt rubber and tire smoke. (Which, most of you do) It's an absolute blast to drive. The only use for 1st gear on the street is leaving black marks.
