who is best of the best?
Saturday, October 02, 2010 5:50 PM
Hello, I have been a member here off and on since 2002. The last car I had here was an 04 cavalier ls sedan with digital air ride. My user name then was "Cotton 04 Sedan".

There used to be a LOT of members on here stepping outside the box and doing some MAJOR modifications to there jbodys... Now that I'm back, Im just trying to get caught up on whats been going on. So, all I am asking is who is top dogs around here? Since the date you become a member, who do you think has motivated or inspired you to do what you do to your j?

With cars like Fetter's and others a few pics doesnt do them justice. You have to look at all their threads.

Yes he is a great tuner, but oldskool did successfully swap a LE5 bottom end into his cav and retained the stock computer. What have you done Vince that allows you to judge him so harshly? If you actually had the brains like you act like you do, you wouldnt have sold the proper cams for your engine and kept the improper ones.

stage 3's are just fine for my application. if not, todd wouldnt have put them in the motor, and jon wouldnt have run them... like he said, just because cams are labeled turbo, doesnt make them the best cams for the job, they actually tested and calculated and did all the math and the stage 3's were the better cam to go with over the turbo cams

and i merely edited yours to quote who you picked. pump the brakes turbo.

Todd built a supercharged engine, not a turbocharged one. Apples to oranges. Even Ray Charles can see what you are getting at with that edited quote.

Street & Strip high RPM (Stage 3) Applications power from 3500-8000rpm

-Turbo Cams Applications power from 2200-7000rpm

see a problem?

I always believe in built not bought, but some of us who think inside the box buy everything already made. With a ported head the turbo cams will make power above 7000 rpms. Creating more air flow always moves peak power and the power band up. I have to agree though on one thing Vince said, I am also running the Comp Stage 3's, but on the other side, I am also running more displacement, thus I need a crazier cam. But in all reality there are way too many to list. I am surprised I was named, but thank you. I'll be the first to have a turbo LE61T cavalier

Z-yaa's list is pretty well proportionate

agreed on the cams, however $2500 1 off motor built > $7500-10,000 to attempt to replicate it, which cant be done.

Yes i do.

Turbo - Dur. @ .050 - Int. 204/ Exh. 200
Stage 3 - Dur. @ .050 - Int. 222/Exh. 224

High duration is bad for turbocharged engines.

but also pair them with adjustable cam gears. then take both cams to 8000rpm

But did you actually take the time to set them put for your specific application?

I guess innovation of Oldskool isn't worth it? First Le5 powered cavalier? Or the fact him and I designed the crank trigger wheels to allow it, come January we'll be on your list when we're both running 400+ whp motors. I'm not going to go on but I think a person who starts an entirely new movement in our world deserves recognition.
