New Seats/Harnesses and OEM Harness Bar
Thursday, August 26, 2010 7:10 PM
It's been a while since I've posted anything in here. (Not since my hood anyways) I've actually had the harness bar for a while now, but due to my cheap ass buying crappy seats, it wouldn't fit right :/

BUT Corbeau fixed that!!!

Before:

Sooooo much red!

And a nice little surprise on my doorstep today...

A few minor adjustments...

and BAM! Cleaning up the red!

They are a little bit narrower than the previous ones, which sucks because I'm not that small of a guy. :/ But they are comfy as hell! HUGE thanks to Mark @ OEM for putting up with my impatience, and putting out one heck of a product!

Oh, and one more little mod:

Best $4 ever spent

definate improvement. bar looks like it needs painted or polished, but definate a step up. the corbeause will loosen up and comform to you after a while.

Seats look much better! But, you need new tint on your back window.

Also, I disagree with harnesses in a car with no cage. But, should you roll it it's not my skull getting crushed.

Joe - Our club is staying at the Ramada on Friday. I'll be there (but a little...how do I say...sh#t faced? lol) and we will be around all day Saturday. If you want to meet up, we will be at the Applebee's by Rogers' Plaza on Saturday.

Jason - My plan this winter is to polish the bar. I like the look of the side rails that are polished, and I think painting it black would be too much.

Jason - The tint is 3 years old, and will get replaced this winter. And my skull would crush just as much without the bar as it does with it. lol The belts aren't hooked to the bar either. I'm just using it to get the correct angle for the harnesses. They are connected to the "Child Seat" hooks in the rear window deck, as per the Corbeau instructions (and my original plan).

think you meant scott the harness mounting location wasn't what he was getting at though. in a rollover the roof could collapse on you. with the harness your body wouldnt be able to move out of the way due to the harness holding you in place possible breaking your neck.

I did mean Scott :/ lol

And I'm aware of that risk. I thought he meant it wasn't providing more safety. It's better than my setup was before (harnesses to the seat bracket, which I KNOW was veeery unsafe). I've heard the big debate about safety in harnesses v. safety with belts in other threads. I'm just going to avoid that here

seats look awesome, definitely turns down the amount of red in the car.

That was the goal. lol I just wanted to tone down the red a little. The cf dash ends helped, and now the seats. I'm working on the rest of it.

I used the Corbeau rails. They bolt right in, and have a threaded tab to attach the harnesses on the console-side of the seat (where the car lacks a seat belt bolt).

As far as the Eclipse unit, I just used an install kit. I did have to notch the rounded edges of the dash opening to get it to fit better. Other than that, nothing special.

would you mind posting how you mounted them? I want to do racing seats but I cant seem to figure out the seat bracket situation did you use your stock sliders?
