So the RK Sport Import Fighter has always been my favorite front end for Cavs...and since RK Sport dropped the ball and only made them for 95-99s, I decided to do what they should have and make one for 03+ Cavs. (And yes, I know someone in Canada or something has done this previously, since I know someone will need to chime in about it).
Today I basically just cut off the top of the import fighter, and the mounting strips in the wheel wells, and then cut what I didn't need from the 03 bumper (which was basically everything, lol. The 03 bumper I'm using is just for the mock up since it's in really rough shape (mounting holes are all ripped up) but I have another one on it's way that I'll actually use for the final piece. Next time I work on it, I'll get some pics of the two individual pieces.
The two bumpers are a bit different in how they curve, which leaves the IF bumper a bit short from the ends of the 03 bumper, which you can see in the last pic. Looks like I'm going to be cutting some fresh plastic and shaping to fill in the gaps (the lip also needs to be extended to reach the wheel wells).
Enjoy!
And in this pic, you can see that gap left at the ends that needs to fill, though I think once I heat up the IF bumper and pull the curve into the 03 bumper, this gap will be a bit smaller.
C&C Welcome!

That they are. I've been meaning to start this project for months, but been so busy doing work on other people's cars that mine keeps going to the back burner....your thread on your Taurus lip actually motivated me to make some time to start this.

Perhaps...I need a back up bumper...so that being said, find me an 03+ LSS front and the RK will be up for grabs (side note...you don't get just a lip...it's bonded to the bumper AND seamless

Indeed it is...I picked this up from Mike I think last year already with the intent of this project, just finally starting it now, lol!

Give me and IF front and Ion front and I'll give you and Ion IF!! I can tell you right now, the curves are a bit different from the IF to Ion, and there is going to be a length difference...so it's going to take some molding and shaping new plastic to mold in. I plan on having to do some vacuum-forming on mine.

I'm hurrying, lol! I'm hoping to have some time this week to work on a bit. On top of working 60 hour weeks right now, I have 3 bumpers to paint, 2 gauge bezels to fiberglass and paint, and sub box to build and paint...and those are paying customers so unfortunately their work needs to happen before mine.
But there will be more progress pics soon, I promise! Now that I finally have it started, I'll make sure to find the time to keep chipping away at it til it's painted.
I'm actually excited to get it done and paint it, this will be the first piece I paint with the new color for the car so I'm anxious to see what it looks like!
I'm thinking my next step is to mock up the GMX sides on the car, then bolt on the bumper so I can position the Import Fighter portion so that the lip sits level with the sides, then I can start marking out where the to halves of the bumper will get bonded together...
