So as it says I sent my HO intake cam out for a regrind today. Im hoping to get somewhere around 224ish duration and .430 lift out of it. The total cost 82.50 and shipping. im kinda excited about it. It should arrive to them next tuesday and they will call and discuss the exact dimensions and such.
oh crap...mods can you please move to performance, i appearently wasnt paying attention.
I agree great deal. Who is doing it??
I have a possible idea I want to try

Its www.deltacam.com figure ill give em a try. I talked to one guy there and he seemed pretty knowledgable. Ill let you know how it goes.
oh my GOD cory you are my hero!!!!!
ive got so many cams lying around that could be reground... moohoohoohahahahahahahahahaa
and hell for $85 a cam, the sky is the limit! jesus... @!#$n colt cams charges like $450 for a set of our cams!
-love that they POLISH the bearing surfaces, this will allow the cam to spin more freely as well.
-can fix a cam eh? well now i guess my crane .430/.222 intake cam with a broken pin aint so junk afterall.
HELL of a find, man!

How are you going to make up for the .020" lost from the cam lobe base circle? Shims under the lifter?
^^^ clyde, people have been running re-ground cams for years WITHOUT any 'lash caps' as they are called that go between the valve stem and the lifter plunger. usually just LD9 re-grinds but i know jay (brodycog) had a set of secret cams done. his 95 intake was brought out to .415 lift and he had to use some lash caps. they worked flawlessly, that is until the ss os valve exploded and embedded itself into the top of a wiseco forged piston
head
here to read more about his reground colt (lzm/jbp) cams.

I would love to get some new HO cams rground for more lift/duration. Guess I just have to wait and see how these turn out.
^^^ if i remeber correctly he didnt need the lash cap to be the whole .040 that was ground off the cam, only somthing like .015. So I should be safe.
Also I considered having them give me the highest lift possible with lash caps but then I run into the whole too much lift for my springs deal as I have stock 2.3 springs and they pretty much max out at .430 lift. Well I read that on quad4forums anyways. The dual spring setup would be nice but not in the budget for my time frame. Wish I bought some of those NHRA rocket parts springs from Ron Seibenick when he had them.
What do the NHRA ones look like?
ill throw up a pic tonight, clyde.
ive got nhra's, stock HO's, and mantapart duals i could compare...

I have some duals on a 086 head. Would like to eventually find out what they are.
The NHRA are duals if i remeber correctly.
^^^ nope. they are just a bit stiffer than stock ho's but look pretty close to them.
its like the difference between a stock LD9 and the mantapart sport springs.
and clyde, wtf!?!? since when!!

Brad,
Clyder posted pics of his dual spring cylinder head on your post looking for Crower dual valve springs ( I think...I know he posted pics before )

any idea wt those are, man?

No idea. Would like to so that I could know what they are worth. I wont be doing any radical cams in my engines so I dont really need more than stock 2.3 springs.
Trade what for them? I have two sets of 2.3 springs. One with aout 20K miles that i purchased new, and one with unknown miles that came from the JY when i picked up a 2.3 that I really wont be able to use much of.
I was talking about my stock 2.3 springs but i was kidding anyways...i know you wouldnt let those go for that. If you decide to sell them I would be interested though, as long as funds are available at the time.
I need to figure out what the hell they are first. One of these days I will dig the head out of storage and pull a spring. Wont be using them if I get around to a build. Funds are tight for a lot of people right now. My small fund built up for an engine build just got used up to replace the A/C compressor in my 98.
I can relate...my engine funds mostly have gone to convertible top replacement on the 96. not that that is a bad thing just not the fun thing.
What we NEED to do is get some TI retainers goin on lolol
