So about 6 months ago i started the rebuild on the 2.6 quad stroker. I was dealing with many issues, the biggest being oil consumption. The engine used 1qt of oil every 100 miles, any time i punched the gas it set out smoke signals out the exhaust. However i was still putting down almost 210 whp so i knew that if i fixed some problems i could automatically put down more. So i started building it again, this time bigger and better, making sure NONE of the previous mistakes were repeated.
Heres how it started
this is how my intake ports looked
and heres a few other issues
from there it was a whole new animal
block got a fresh deck, a clean .050 overbore and nice set of custom Ross pistons , consider the stroke and your looking at 12:1 final compression
Now the head work, i got a fresh 086 head, did the Port n Polish work myself
next i needed some stiffer valve springs to compliment the SS valves, so i installed the "cavfan1 mod" as i like to call it.
Supertech VoltsWagon dual valve springs with a custom titanium retainer and a modified rotator.
fresh seals, a 5angle valve job and a 30* back cut on the valves should make for some improved flow...all things that were never included in the first build.
Next i got a performance grind done on the crank, fresh bearings and reinstalled the eagle rods...got the assembly all balanced up and heres what you get
add a brand new set of HG2 cams and the top end is complete as well
and of course while the motor was out the engine bay got a nice new coat of paint
then of course it got the nicely rebuilt and painted 93 NVG tranny with new slave , clutch and flywheel
extrude honed intake manifold, nicely shaved of any thing i didnt want on it, including the filltube/dip stick then powdercoated
and of course now its finished, im still breaking things in best i can before i can do much with it, but it will make its first track appearance at lonestar bash, ..heres what she sounds like at a cold idle.
