Timex...it really depends...do you DD your car? cause i could care less if your car wins a large turd, people in the tuner scene dont respect a pile of unfinished cheap looking primer poop (or what looks to be.) "oh its just another crappy ass sunfire / cavalier" and i dont mean people at shows that you attend because they are smart and know that its in progress and more than likely can see what beauty will come of it (and im sure it will be fine in your hands)
so no doubt i agree with you 100% that anyone on here is alright simply for the fact that we already have a great passion in common, we all love our js! but just like i had to learn, no one really cares what your plans are for the future...its what your car looks like now. im talking about what we, the J community look like to others if we all drive around with stick on fender flares in places they dont go...bolt on walmart wings and spray painted stock parts that look like your going hunting and graphics straight out of Need for speed. i dont believe ive seen the J i just described in any mags lately...
IMO...owning a J seperates you from everyone that just wants the civic from fast and furious... you have higher standards than what walmart and autozone offer you in parts and the look of you car should make people say..."wow...thats a cavalier?! (or sunfire lol)....im talking about the word "clean" even with a body kit and a wing... and there are so many of those on here i could use as examples....
"how done or not done your ride is" you said that...well...i need a paint job new dash top and center console and gauge surround...i need new tail lights and corners and a front bumper that fits well...
you dont see me striping down my car to nothing and throwing primer everywhere, tearing up my dash and leaving it in shambles and taking out my tail lamps all at once just cause its "a work in progress" do you? no...cause i would rather not be laughed at on the road or add to the "just another crappy J" cliche'
just my opinion Timex... not saying i dont agree with a bunch you said though bro.
he can clarify on what "nicer ricer" is to him...to me its
this...
No I don't daily drive my car, it's in my garage in pieces as we speak. I have 9 weeks till Cruisefest Nats, I'm planning on having it together in time for that show. I don't know if you daily drive your car or not, if u don't I would have already tore mine apart if it needed the things you listed, I guess we just have different approaches. I did also agree with a lot of what u said, I don't know where your located, but around here the tuner scene is primer, lol. It's sad but true. My pet peeves are guys with painted cars and bodykits in primer, choose one and go with it. I also hate the guy with the red car who shaves everything and has primer "spots" all over the car where he did the work(at least for an extended period of time). So I guess I'm sorry if I'm adding to the crappy J cliche, I'm just tryin to get it done so it's also respected everywhere
ROLL IT TOPLESS!!
whoo honda from fast and furious
kinky. jk but at least we can allllllllll agree on the crappy hood scoop!? dumb domestic...
jesus that is something.. IMO destroy the catfish bumper, loose the spoler, hoodscoop, graphics, for the carbon fiber hood like stated look on your local criagslist, and on here here good luck on turning it around..
umm fox wasn't it ou bragging about this and that, and had unpainted kit, defective paint, and thought you were king @!#$???????
"As I lay rubber down the street, I pray for traction I can keep, but if I spin and begin to slide, please dear God protect my ride." -Amen
I don't like to be negative but how that bumper ever made it into production I will never understand. Totally ruins the sunfire lines! Aside from that good luck with the car, it needs some work but thats part of the fun!

bragging about what now? lol and did you read my posts bro? i was saying i dont want this guy to have to go through that...yeah i did it. guilty as charged. and the org has been a great way for me to see how TO do things right and in due time...
Timex...yeah...so i think that it depends on where your located and your scene...i DD my car so yeah...it has to look more complete than not...i see what your saying then...cause if primer is in up there...yeah...lol
but regardless i think Adam here can see the approaches taken and what works for different people...i think we have hit a good mark here.
.....OP..do what you like..A lot of us can agree the new nose is puke BUT if you like then go for it..just try to make the rest of the car flow with it....IMO, don't see that happening..I personally just don't like it......I am loving the stock look, I have an SE..looking to do a GT nose and such on mine..NO HOOD SCOOP !!!! the bigger wheels are nice....Bolt them on then look at your car, get paper and a pen and jot ideas down as they come to you..look at some of the rides on here for inspiration, not to copy but for reference. Get decent stuff too..Make it your own..let them bash if you have to sit in primer for a bit till the money is up to paint...It's yours and that's what counts...

your sig is to big !! lol and ouch you have a 2.2ohv vert? sell me those seats !
Haha, seats aren't for sale! They are goin in my car! Ya it's a 2.2ohv and it's an automatic, can u say sloooowwwwwww. I like the way they look once they are customized tho, that's why I bought it. Speed never did anything but get me into trouble anyway, my foot is far too heavy. Lol
ROLL IT TOPLESS!!
I should clarify, I like the way the Sunfire looks when customized, not the 2.2ohv lol
ROLL IT TOPLESS!!
awesome stuff. I cant wait to see it with the new front bumper.
Timex337 wrote:sounds like u might as well drive a stock sunfire if u listen to all these guys. whats the point then? they are right, like i told u before, lose the green, the graphics, the scoop. KEEP the bodykit and get it on, I believe the wing will work with the kit on there and get the rims on. It'll be a nice start to a clean little j-body then. Stock sucks in my opinion, these guys do have clean cars, but so what, stock aint for everybody, build it ricey, but do it with class, the vinyl, the hood scoop and the green paint are cheesy. Once that stuff is off and the rest is on you'll be on the right track
You know.... I once had the same thought process as you. And one thing ill still agree with is that stock sucks.... but.... everything about that car sucks. I hate to be mean but its constructive criticism.... he asked for it and kudos to him for not getting pissey about it. My car when its finished and painted here soon will be done with all stock parts except for the hood and front bumper. We as j-body owners are really lucky to have such great interchangeability between all the different models of cavaliers and sunfires. Meaning we have such a great list of stock parts we can mix and match to get a really unique look. All without going to a big ass bodykit and catfish bumpers. Then you look at some of the nice aftermarket parts we have available to us such as lip kits, hoods, and even my rksport bumper which retains a stock but much more aggressive look.
What I'm getting to, and my advise to the original poster... spend the time and look around and search these forums for ideas. You would be amazed at what you can come up with without resorting to cheap, cheesy ricer crap.
My advise... start back at square one.... that front bumper is the ugliest abomination ever designed for the sunfire. I'ts wavy, ugly, and just looks like crap. You'll be much happier in the end if you take this advise. Unless driving around in a riced out abomination that looks like most of its design ques came from the 80's makes you happy.
I agree with Meckster just start over with the car make it easier on yourself.

Alexis: Dustin, you're ghey, lol. I am better. I have tits, and tits rule all.
honestly, i dont like the stock look. The bumper I like..it makes it look a little wider in my opinion. I agree with all of you about the body lines, gm did make the car nice. But around here where i live, there is a lot of cavaliers and sunfires that are stock. I just wanna stick out =). I will be getting rid of the hoodscoop, the spoiler and the vinyls..theyr peeling of anyway haha. I am planning on getting a CFhood and an evo style spoiler. I appreciate how all of you are helping and not just ranting on how my car looks retarded.
its the least we could do
it sounds like your plans will be fine...good luck there Adam!
