And so it begins...

well, to make a long story short, ever since i started in the j community i've wanted to do an exterior cavfire conversion, but had nobody with a sunfire that wanted to trade front ends, nor would my parents let me do something that seemed at the time way out of my abilities, fast forward 3 years, after doing the body kit thing for a year or 2, having the kit busted more times than i want to think about, my parents got my brother a 98 5spd sunfire.. immediately after having met some of my fellow j enthusiasts at the shows and seeing pics on the .org, i stumbled upon a free sunfire hood for him and he had the evil eyes welded on, then he saw what a 00-02 gt front looked like with evil eyes and he snatched up one of those too, BUT after hearing me ramble on about how great the ecotec was, he went and bought a cobalt.... so needless to say all i needed was some fenders and headlights.. i got some headlights from a friend long ago in hopes to do a retrofit on them but forgot abut that project in no time.. so now being as i moved 2 hours away from where i was living originally, i need to wait to get my hood then the front end will be prepped and test fitted before hopefully going in to be resprayed completely black..

anyways i only have a couple pics so far since its winter and its too cold to be doing much body work outside

making sure the fenders would fit properly with the bumper

striped down the bumper and started checking for cracks through the plastic as the paint was quite banged up

This sucked a bit but i'll just get some more or something

and the hood that will be going on as well

also will i need the crush guard from the gt for the bumper to fit properly? as well as an 03-05 rear crush guard for the rear to work?

So you are ditching the drift for a stock Sunfire GT bumper?

If that's the case, it's your call, but I feel as thought you are taking a step backwards.

If it were me, I would have just saved money & bagged that bitch! As I feel that is all

your car was lacking appearance-wise.

Oh, wait.......I did. lol

Gonna look awesome. That's a tie for my favorite j front end with the 02 ls sport.

Your gonna need the hood latch support also, the sunfire latch sits more forward.

lol, bags are really not in the future for me unless something changes, but you never know, i'm probably going to pick up a truck soon and that'll leave me the option for major downtime with the cavy

and on top of the gt front i'll be adding the rk front lip, IF sides and an 03 rear, as to weather or not it'll be an lss rear or a base rear with a lip, it hasnt been an easy task to find the lss rear.

i guess i'll need to hood latch assembly too, i forgot about that part.. ah well i got a parts car down home at a local yard i've been cannibalizing so i should be alright there

Kit looked gawdy IMO, I like the sides and rear combo for obvious reasons, Sunfire GT front should set it off too I suppose though I'm a 95-99 GT front guy myself.

/\ i had completely forgotten that you had that same side/rear combo, i'm hoping it all comes together properly, i may wind up with a base model rear with the rk lip.. but either way it should look good

got a pic of the front end lined up, going to the bank tomorrow to see if i can borrow some money, i found an 04 lss that was in a rollover that i'm pondering buying to get the eco and whatnot as well as the rear bumper, the rest will either be up for sale or the car will get crushed

hoping to get my side skirts off tomorrow too then i can go and test fit the IF sides i'll be putting on

i'm kind of starting to think that if i end up going with the rk front lip that the front will be significantly lower than the rest, anybody have any insight on this?
