Grand am dash!?! how hard was that, thats pure sex dude!
I really like the dash, good work!
Thanx! No its not JDM yet not even close but it will be kinda lol. I'm going white with black hood, and trunk until I can do carbon fiber. Toyota tails, side markers, and mirrors.95-99 Sunfire gt front bumper. with yellow headlights and fogs. M gonna try to make it simple. but focus on the details. As of right now the dash is not finished i have the grandam tabs that are spot welded in to the GA screwed in with sheet metal screws to mach it up the have to be welded in and the doors wont shut yet because the door panels are to fat lol, but not much. once the welding is done the dash will be getting wrapped in red vinyl. All the interior is gonna be red. think s2000/Porsche/corvette. All red. everything that cant be wrapped will be color matched to the vinyl. the rims im going to use are going to be custom painted white with a red lip. the lip will be color matched to the int. color. not sure on struts but I'm thinking GC coil overs or sportlines for the springs o the wheels r 18s.
Interesting dash swap I want more pics of it.

Alexis: Dustin, you're ghey, lol. I am better. I have tits, and tits rule all.
for some reason I couldn't figure out how to post the pics straight to hear. I understand to put the url of the pic in the thing to post thi pics with but when i put the url from were they r now it wouldn't work no link no pic no nothing I wish i could just upload them from my comp. Thats all the pics of the dash I have right now but next time im at the shop i will take more. Its been a really straight forward swap so far but i still have to route the vent tubes and put the harness back in. Im tring to wait until i paint the car to put the harness back in though. I'm using the inter 99 GA wiring pcm, bcm, taillight harness, headlight harness, everything. Ive gotta swap sending units, splice in the headlight switch since im using the cav column and spice in the wiper switch. O and the vss. since im using a 5 speed. The headlight harness is almost exactly the same as the sunfire. They both use 9007s. and the tail light wiring is very similar maybe the same as Toyota tails is. Haven t got that far yet.
Sounds like good plans for it and the engine sits in there nice! shoulda painted the bay while it was out. You should think about doing the roof black with the hood and trunklid.

woot for another cavfire. that dash is tits
Yea the clutch isn't even in that pic just to mach up the mounts. Its getting pulled back out so I can paint and tuck the wiring harness. Should be fun lol. I thought of doing a whole bunch of crazy graphite on the firewall inner fenders and core support. But last month I flipped open a honda tuning mag. And someone beat me to it. Lol that's just how it goes. M hiding the use box under the dash and I gotta find something to do with a smaller coolant res. Thanks for the positive comments. O how did u do that with the pics
second person to attemt the grand am dash in a jbody .. Z2flip4 was in the process with his cav.
Do u know if he finished it? Pics?
i just went to the picture, right clicked it and there is a 'copy image location' option.
then past the text into the posting window here, then move the cursor over the text to highlight it and click the little imagine picture above next to the smiley. it will then create the proper tag to the text and it will work.
I must confess... I feel like a monster!
nope he didnt ... he moved on before he had a chance too
I SATCHMOE YOU!!!! wrote:Interesting dash swap I want more pics of it.
I just want more info. how much work involved?
The grand am cluster doesn't fit in the cavalier dash worth a damn. I'd do the swap this weekend if I thought it was gonna be easy.
so how muc cutting did you do ? or did you just use the grand am's dash frame?
Actually all u have to do is remove the cavi dash and frame. Then remove the GA dash and frame. When you get to this part you will see on both sides of the dash are two brackets with a line up in on them. They are spot welded into the grand am. I drilled out the spot welds and pulled them out. The GA dash frame hits on the steering colum bracket that holds it up this peice is welded in to the cavi so I just made two cut one on each side of the frame were the steering colum goes through took me 10 min with a cut off wheel. once you do this the frame will fit into place. You also have to cut the cavi dash mounts at the very bottom of both sides of the dash or the frame will hit. I am going to cut the top dash frame mounts nearest to the windsheald off of the cavi frame and try to weld them into the GA frame for more support some how but havent got there yet my welder, a guy from our car club has been kinda tied up with a stock floor body drop we are doing on a blazer. I am tring to get the ar painted and at least most of the int. and have it runing by march. We have a big car show in Panama City, Florida then I have took 2nd place j-body there in 07 and then 2nd place in pontiac in 08 didnt even place this year. This is with my girlfriends sunfire. So im tring to get first. Maybe lol
the dash is for sure an awesome thing!

People need to stop putting these gaudy front ends on Cavaliers. Completely ruins the look.
