First off, I want to thank John Benham for the great service & killer deal on this kit.
Fast shipping & a Delivery Confirmation Tracking Number as well.
It is made by DIGITAL HID from
Retro-Solutions
& I got the 55W 8000K BI XENON 9007 Digital Slim Kit.
Kit came in a sweet briefcase too.
I installed the slim components right under where the headlights mount, as I
searched the forums & others said it was the best place to mount them.
They even came with mounting brackets.
Light output is KILLER KILLER KILLER!
I love the kit, and was super impressed with the ease of installation.
A cave man could do it.
Onto the pics...(not the best quality pics, as I took them with my phone)

Not at all. They are actually not as bright as the pics look.
Plus the headlights still have the diffusers in them (chrome guards over the bulbs)
That's my camera phone for ya though.
Probably end up putting projectors in later also.

Very nice, but they seem to be angled up kind of high..You're gonna kill people in the oncoming
nice kevin

My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again
wow... I am very interested in my own kit.... Does John sell them all the time?

You are definitely going to blind oncoming traffic, and you have a higher-than-oem wattage kit. You're going to need to aim them very low. Trust me.

I had HIDs for 3 years when i owned my cavalier and never had any problems with people flashing me, im sure everyones areas of living are different and whatnot, i believe one manufacturer, i want to say acura released a car with HIDs in non projector headlights as well. How much did you pay for the kit? you can get a quality kit from DDMTuning for 55$ shipped to your door
Your gonna have "fun" when it rains man. Should have gone a lower K.

Several manufactures have released vehicles with HIDs and standard housing headlights. I have HIDs in my 98 and stock housings yet have never once had a flash or complaint about them.
Many manufacturers have had reflector based HID's, both in clear and frosted lenses, including Acura, Mercedes, BMW, Lincoln/Ford, Lexus, Subaru, Infiniti/Nissan etc. Most of these have now gone to a projector based design though because their outputs and cutoffs are better.
The difference though is that all of these reflectors were speciflcally designed for the D2R/D1R HID bulb, unlike these aftermarket kits. Older halogen reflectors were made simply to reflect light; as newer halogen reflectors have come out, manufacturers have focused more on creating cutoffs.
The HID bulb arc length and diameter is NOT the same as a standard filament bulb. So even though the HID aftermarket manufacturer has somewhat placed the bulb in the right location for a retrofit, it is not exact. Combine this, with older reflectors, and you get why there is so much glare that is produced with some kits. Add this to the fact that 00-02 Cavalier reflectors are based for both high beams and low beams, any small deviation in the bulb and you will be into the high beam area of the reflector.
Want to see where the "hot spot" is on the cavalier reflector with HID's? Here you go. And my reflector is aimed "pretty well" right here - imagine if you had to look at that in real life, against the night background.
Judging by the original pictures, there is a HELL of a lot of glare that is going to be shown into oncoming traffic. The reason the amount of light is KILLER KILLER KILLER is because you are basically shining a crazy amount of light straight ahead instead of down. Sure it's good for you if you were out in the wilderness - but you're most likely not, you're on public roads with millions of other people. The purpose of the stock bulb cap in the headlight is not to act as a cutoff - it only blocks the stock halogen center from blinding people when looking at it straight on.
Don't forget, if you blind someone, your lights can be killer. The temporary blindness can cause that person to get into a fatal crash that can kill them, you, others, etc.
I personally also use an aftermarket kit (but used to have a different OEM kit in the past). I created a custom cutoff shield to block out that hot spot.
Regardless of whatever you choose to do, aim your lights correctly, because I guarantee you that right now they are not. Park your car on the road, walk down 25-50 feet from the front of your car, and bend down on your knees. Then see how much it blinds you.

I dont recall what GM vehicle it was but they used teh same housing regardless of HID or not. I have watched my car come at me. It was easier on the eyes than the factory ones were. I also enjoy the extra light output to the side that I never would have had with a projector. I drive at night a lot and like to see whats going to run out at me. After riding in a 98 Z with projectors and HIDs I can say that there was not the same light output on the side of the road as I want to have.
They may have used the same housing but they did not use the same reflector inside that housing.
And use some good projectors made by Hella, Bosch, or Stanley, and you'll get damn near 175 degrees of light.

ok i dont get it. wtf is the point of having brighter than stock bulbs if you cannot utilize them if you point em down???
you guys need to calm down about it. its not something to get you're panties in a bunch about.
kevin, lookin good man. 'killer' LOL
Familiar Taste of Poison.
Thanks all.
As I said earlier, they are not THAT bright. The pics make them
look blinding.
Something to do with non-adjustable exposure settings on a camera phone? LOL
Maybe I'll get out my 14MP camera tonight & see if I can get some better looking pics for ya's.
The driver's side headlight does need aimed down just a little bit, as there is a slight glare
when I stand 20-25 feet in front of the car. Passenger side is perfect.

Cav headlights aren't made for HID's, meaning there is no cut off in the lamp, Ever seen OEM HID's on any car? Stand in front of them, they have a very defined line which does not let the light output up too high (and in other drivers eyes)
We're not saying to point them down as much as we are saying just to adjust them a bit.
I've never really been a fan of the ricer blue headlights 6k is my limit - even those have way too much blue
but neat mod?
So with this do you have high and low beams or just on/off?

right but whats the point then? if you cut off the better output i dont see it being any 'better'.

Looks great Kev. I never had a problem with my HID's and my 97 headlights. I do have a cutoff line when my lights are on. Yes I adjusted them down just to make sure their not pointing in peoples eyes when driving. No big deal.

i never considered HIDs ricer... no matter what the color... id say its more ricer-ish putting the blue regular bulbs in just to make the lights blue, and not any brighter..
i just put a 6000k kit in my 01.. my headlights have always sucked horribly and these just make them so the road is actually lit up now
