Project: NINE7 has begun....
Tuesday, October 28, 2008 8:58 PM
yessir im finally going to be able to do a swap!! you dont know how long ive been waiting to get rid of this stupid ohv lol. all this weight and no power.this build is going at a decent speed. i recently completed my 2.3 oil pump coversion parts gathering. as of right now the block is at the machine shop getting cleaned, decked, and assembled. once we get all that done we can bring it back to scotts and start partially assembling things.

seeing as how my car is mainly for show im not going to try to squeeze crazy hp outta this motor because it probably wont ever see the track because if the bags and shaved handles. anywho.

i picked up the entire swap:motor,trans,etc...everything for 500 bucks.i plan on rebuilding it,port and polish, valve job, hone(sp) and bore (if needed),secret cams, deck the block and head, give it a good cleaning from the machine shop, arp block and head studs, possibly upgrade pistons(if needed),2.3 oil pump conversion,i bought a custom fitted engine driven compressor for my bags.wich is polished ,bought a polished alternator from whitecavy, powder coat idi cover, cam towers, timing chain housing, paint the block and trans, polish the lines, looking at getting a aluminum reservoir cylinder made in polished aluminum, painted CF engine bay covers (fuse cover, brake etc.) repaint engine bay,and a few other things to clean it up.

ooo yea i almost forgot....and a polished m45 too but as ive been reading around it looks like some people are trying to get a m62 to fit ld9s so i may change my mind on the m45

best of all i have scott(section8cav w/ 2.6 quad) helping me put it together at his house !

thats basically my game plan.like i said im not puttting crazy amount of money in internals seeing how this will turn from a daily driver to a weekend warrior. ya know?

i figured id keep the charger, alternator, and ac copmressor, reservoir all polished, cam towers black, timing housing red with the outside plate black, idi cover red and black..some how. i still have several things to buy still but im moving at a good pace i think. this is a great feeling to finally be able to touch the performance area of this car. so im enjoying every bit of it!!

the only HO quad at the junkers!!

custom paint on the cam towers eh?

just doing a lil work to get some needed parts for the 2.3 oil pump swap

polished alternator.... thanks whitecavy!!!

engine driven compressor for the air ride(will finish polishing) along with some other goodies. thanks john!!!

sorry for the crappy pics. these were taken by a cell from scott at work.
2.3 oil pump,pickup scree,and windage tray

picked all this up for 16 bucks at the yard!!!

now mind you the pump is a new melling oil pump. i threw out the old one from the car.

so as of right now. thats all i have to show. i will be updating this thread for those who care to read. i appreciate all the help everybody has given me thus far. its a learning experience for me as i move forward considering im not that knowledgable in the performance area. but i have a great friend/mentor guiding me and helping me with this build. i hope to have it done by the end of feb or so. so thanks for viewing and ill update this thing whenever i get pics of some progress!!

Awesome man, I knew you'd get to it eventually and I am glad that you're reppin some 2.4 action. Like I said previously in one of my leg humping of your car sessions, the only way it could get better was more power - and now that is happening! FTW!

I can't wait to see how the engine looks once you get it done, I am sure it will look amazing just like the rest of your work.

Great decision on swapping to the LD9. And with Scott helping you.....You will have power on that engine, not just show. Are you going to use the cams and housing off that engine? I heard Scott needs a new intake cam housing

GMR has got nothing on this

thanks bro. scott is a great friend and as much knowledge as he has in this area, i couldnt be more thankful. i actually already have my cams. and scott had already ordered his cam housing before we went out there but we want that motor still lol only 100 bucks for the short block. you just have to pull it yourself.

thanks everybody! i get to pick up my new drive gear for the pump today then i can drop it off at the machine shop and he can start plugging and drilling new holes for the modified pan. so after this maybe i can have some more progress !!

I said that because the LD9 wasn't your first choice, that kinda hurts us!

See you in Ohio, I'm ready to get down Texan style. I'll bring beer, you bring an SPM CD.

thanks for the luv guys.as of right now i have to wait until i get my pistons on sunday to give them to the machine shop. then they can have at it,check the block, and clean and assemble stuff. in the mean time im kinda lookin around for a powdercoat shop. local shop around here wants $300 for timing chain cover, idi, cam towers this includes sandblasting, primer, powdercoat, then clear coat. seam like a good idea to yall? ive never done anything and from few people ive spoken to it varies i guess. but you get what you pay for so i guess ill be sending parts to them!!! lolly pop red with some black chrome possibly
