some progress + new DD

Just a few pics here to show some recent progress. I ditched my thrush resonator in favor of a stainless vibrant resonator. The thrush was pretty much junk since it was over 2 years old and the case was cracked on the bottom. The car is also stripped down for winter. I haven’t decided whether or not I will be keeping the import fighter front bumper, although I’ll probably end up keeping it. The neon rear discs will be going on as soon as I receive my other caliper. After I finish up with the brakes I can finally work on getting a new motor for the cav. The car has 101,000 miles on it now and it’s time for something newer and fresher. I haven’t decided if I want to just go with a lower mileage ecotec or go with a mild build. I’m open to suggestions on that subject.

Tuesday I picked up my new DD, so I can finally let the cav sit for a while and take my time on projects instead of rushing to get things done in the few days that I have off.

Youve had alot of practice welding lately, never asked you but what kind of welder you using?

Thats a damn nice new beater too, time to build a motor and turbo

Very nice progress. Didn't you post a sound clip of the cherry bomb somewhere?

How horrifying is the gas mileage in the new DD? Which engine did you end up getting in the Tonka toy [my nickname for the plastic covered ones ]? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm curious about the V8 trucks and I've been considering a Cherry bomb for my eco at some point in the future.

the welder is a flux core wire welder. this is actually my second one. I bought both at harbor freight for like $140. The first one died about a month ago, but it lasted a good 3 years, so I'd say I got my moneys worth. I picked up the second just a few days after the first died.

Since I can now let the car sit for a while, the idea of ditching the blower and going turbo has been in the front of my mind. We'll see what happens

I've never posted any clips of just the resonator. There should be clips of that resonator plus an apexi ws muffler somewhere, or that resonator with a dynomax superturbo, or that resonator with a megan racing fartcan, or that resonator with an oval magnaflow muffler. I don't have any of the soundclips on my computer anymore though.

I've only put 100 miles on the truck since I picked it up, but filling it up after driving off the lot was costly. I put close to $100 in it to fill the tank since the dealer barely had any gas in it. It's an 02 with 110,000 miles on it. Everything is immaculate and looks/runs like its brand new. I'm very happy with it so far, although it definitely needs some sort of exhaust setup. According to the window sticker that the dealer had on the truck, I should get 12mpg city, and 19 highway lol. I drive 2.5 miles to work so I'm not really concerned with mileage. I've always wanted an avalanche and the plastic cladding is perfect for it being my beater. The plastic will take most of the hits from stupid people in parking lots lol.

Have you thought about what kind of setup you are going to go with turbo wise? Hey why not keep the s/c and go twin charged?
