My office becomes an impromptu Cav Meet
Wednesday, August 27, 2008 11:56 AM
My new co-worker is copying me. He started a little over a month ago, and imagine my surprise when he parks this thing behind me. We are a rolling GM advertisement with our twin 1997 Cavalier base model 2.2s, with a few minor differences.

As a special guest, a customer came in with this gem, a nearly spotless 1993 Cavalier RS Vert. Apparently he had just bought it this season, and it was from the London, Ontario area. How it survived this long in Canada is beyond me (though it has obviously never been in snow). I was able to sell him an original shop manual and a sales brochure for his new baby.

Nothing particularly special about it. The car used to belong to my parents, and they wanted a deflector on the car when they picked it up from the dealership. It's still there because:
a) I got used to it
b) I actually kind of like it
c) It's 3/4 of the reason that the front of my hood isn't yet a minefield of rust

allright i was just wondering. seems like a good idea and with the black on red theme you got going it blends well. being from ontario i can understand the rust issue. any plans for an aftermarket hood???

I've considered it, and I probably wouldn't say no to a good deal locally. The car is a Winter daily driver, and I'd just as soon not worry about hood swaps and storage, hood pins, and the rest. I'm also of the opinion that an aftermarket hood looks a bit goofy with the base model bumper.

So that, to me, says that the bumper needs replacing also. Then it'll look goofy without a rear bumper upgrade, which will look entirely out of place without a new set of side skirts , WOOT.

I'd settle for a set of Z24 trim, frankly. There are very few body kits out right now that don't look like futuristic cow-catchers or worse. The Import Fighter bumper is an exception, but they're all just just a PITA to track down, not break the bank, and transport home again.
