Wash + Clay Bar + Wax = Hottness
Monday, August 25, 2008 6:39 PM
Well it certainly isn't as hot as a lot of the cars on this site, but I sure as hell was happy with the results. It was a beautiful day out and I didn't have to work, so I though the car and bike needed some TLC. I have always wanted to clay bar it, so I though what the hell, why not give it a shot. I was very happy with how it turned out.

Now I'm sure you'll see all of the scratches in the paint, and small dents, etc. Please ignore them :-) The exterior of the car needs to be re-done soon. Hopefully next year. Up close it looks like crap, but from a little distance I think it looks nice. It will do for me until I can have some body work done and a fresh coat of paint.

Now I know the background and pics aren't the greatest. I was in a hurry since I had only a few minutes of sunlight left, so I parked it in the front yard. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to take it out to some nice photo locations and get some better pics up. But for now, here's what I've got.

Thanks zyaaaa. I think the clay bar and wax really helped. I can't wait to get some pics in better lighting so they aren't so grainy.

Yup, always been in good old Wisconsin :-) Where in WI are you?

Thanks! I love it. Although now I'm craving a 600. Next year I think I'll upgrade.

Hopefully in a week or two I'll have time to install something new on the front end :-) Although, I'm not sure it will fit or not because of a few things that cannot be changed. It's been sitting in my room bugging me

Good to see it is still around. I know you were having extremly bad luck with 2.4's...I would almost say cursed is an understatement as many times as you have had it torn apart.

Are you planning to turbo it still? I know that is a 2.4 but what are you doing for intake and exhaust cams? From the looks of it we can rule out stock 2.4 cams and secret cams since you are using the power steering pully/pump setup.

Milwaukee, eh? I'll have to make a trip down there sometime for sure! Seems like everyone is down there.

Intake and exhaust cams are HO cams. Iused the HO housings and lifters, hence the 2.3L power steering setup. Still planning on turbo'ing it, but definitely not until next year. I graduate college then and should have some extra money by then to do it the way I want to. I decided to wait and do it right than try and half ass it.

Thanks :-) I'm glad it's giving everyone wood!

Other than the mysterious lifter knock that will not go away, they are working out well. Feels like its got some good power. I don't want to go above 4-5K with the lifter knock the way it is, so I can't tell for sure, but it feels like it really wants to take off in the upper RPM's.

Damn good job on the detail. What are you planning to run when you go turbo?

Thank you. The plans are to go with a Garret GT30R or GT35R with a Fetter header and Tial 60mm external wastegate.

Thanks! Yeah, I was happy with the 250 for a while, and still am, but am craving more power. And I LOVE the sound of the 600's. The 250 doesn't even come close. So next year will surely be an upgrade. But for now, it does me well.
