For anyone who was not aware I have run Raven Autosports now for a little over a year. Over the last few weeks we have moved into a new location so I thought I would post up some pics.
How to build a shop in 3 weeks.
First off thank you too all the people who helped out and made this happen.
We are all moved into our new shop and things are coming along really well. We still have lots of small stuff left to do but for the most part all of the major things are taken care of. We are now officially open for business offering full mechanical service, MVI's, brakes, exhaust, engine/tranny, etc and of course a full line of aftermarket parts for both import and domestic cars and trucks. Mike has been a certified tech for the past 15 years and really knows his stuff. Anyone who has had him work on their car can atest to this.
Our new location is at 55 McQuade Lake Cres in Bayer's Lake! We got the keys on April 13th so it's been a busy 3 1/2 weeks for us to say the least. We were able to pull it off though and we officially opened for business again on Monday May 5th. The shop is 2700 sq/ft which is much larger than our previous location and the new building is only a few years old so everything is clean clean clean.
We wanted to keep the showroom small and use most of the space for the shop floor. With two cars on the hoists there is still enough room to get 3 more cars inside and still have plenty of room to work around everything. We have two brand new hoists, tire machine (up to a 24" tire), tire balancer, compressor, welder and torch gear among everything else that it takes to put together a full mechanical shop. We also have the fabrication equiptment to continue to offer custom one off setups. Our goal with this place is to provide top quality service and parts and to have one of the cleanest shops in town. We spent a lot of time planning the layout of the shop with this in mind.
I have some progress pics of the shop so lets get on to them. When we got the key to the building there was nothing but four walls and one bathroom in a corner. Don't mind the all mighty beater in the pics
Once we went out and got all the supplies we needed we got to work. I don't have any pics of the actual walls going up or the equiptment being installed because with everything going on I had no clue where my camera was. We have some on another camera that will be added to a scrap book in the waiting area. When I found my camera I starting taking pics again. Here is how it looked after the walls were framed in and the equiptment was installed.
The show room was designed to give enough room to be able to show lots of product but at the same time have space for waiting customers to sit down, we also wanted to put in a new customer only washroom. Since we didn't want to take much away from the shop floor we decided to make the showroom long and running along a side wall.
The next set of pics were taken over the last week and a half as everything went together.
There is still lots to be done but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Over the next few weeks lots will be changing still. I still have to setup the showroom with slatwall and gridwall to house the $50k+ worth of inventory that will be on hand. We have to finnish insulating and gyprocking the outside wall to the office, getting all the trim and display cabinets painted, get things better organized etc. It should only be a few weeks to get all that done and then it will be back to business as normal.

It's a really long story that I would rather not get into to be honest with you, lets just say that Brad and I don't work together anymore.

Hmm maybe instead of flying to Halifax this year i will bring the Cavy
everything looks great. something to keep in mind watch boxing in the compressor it needs alot of air circulation to keep it from burning up, cause the get warm. also to bad you bought the basic balancer with the good low profile tire machine. your gonna spend more time balancing the wheel then you should. trust me i do it every day for a living.
