Hit the Dyno today

Videos will be posted either later tonight or tomorrow morning and will post dyno sheet tonight.

Went down to tune time With the cobalts today did pretty well on a mustang dyno.

196 WHP
170 TQ.

As the dyno sheet will show, I maxed out my torque EXTREMELY early. Hp Was still climbing.
I remember Brian dynoed and was still making power at 6500, so I said what the hell and took it up to 7250 and it was still making power.

I had the intercooler and everything installed but the pump I ran was shot and the new one didn't arrive on time. I ran down to rt.88 in brick and picked up 3 gallons of 100 octane (jay your right it was 100 not 110), and 6 gallons of shell 93. I quickly made a few passes with the new tune I burned via HPT with the new advanced timing. 17.5 degrees under wot.
Yes, I know 17 degrees is nothing but without the intercooler daily driven I could only pull about 13 -14 degrees wot without having the pcm begin to pull timing. Could I have advanced more timing with that octane blend? Yes did I want to without an ACTUAL cooling mod to the intake temps? No.

And correction I took it up to 7350, It was still climbing hp wise. Maybe when Airtonics Finishes his build with the built head, we can see eventually where the blower's hp drops off.

damn i was thinking more like 215whp at least, hmmm now those seem like m45 dyno numbers

I was running no timing basically. Most eco's Ive seen run around 22 degrees wot, cobalts even more around 25 or so. I was running 17 degrees max + Running a tad rich afr (11.0-10.9 range)

If i got the afrs more consistent like I had previously which was around 11.7ish and get timing down once the intercooler is on, It will produce better numbers. Besides it was on a mustang dyno

anyway onto the sheet

The small dip and sudden increase before the end was for my own @!#$s and giggles. Timing was lower around the 4800-5200 rpm range. Timing was around 13- 14 degrees and at 5400-7350 timing was 16 or 17 degrees hence the increase back up.

also I can only produce 8 psi rather than the 10 psi ecos on the org. I spike 10 on a very rare occasion

not bad.... but i think a tuned m62'd ecotec should be doing a little better than that, even with the mustang dyno.

Rollin' on question marks since 07.

again, it comes down to my Spark advance. With an intercooler I can run around 22 degrees WOT, currently I have no intercooler so I'm only running 17 degrees max along with richer afrs.
11.6 afrs and 22 degrees should def yield with no doubt around 210 on a mustang dyno, also my 24 inch resonator plus flow master 40 series doesn't help hp as well.
All in all I am satisfied with my Output. The car is daily driven around 200 miles a week every week during the school year and more than that during my summer break.
I rather make reliable consistent power than unstable power and have to build the bottom end.

Now the L61 50 trim fiero I have in works is a different story lol.

Keeps the comments coming!

Why would they compare the HP and TQ output to time? Seems kind of strange to me. I don't know how you could try and tune from that. The only rpm you can decifer is the 5250 crossing point. At least you are satisfied with the results, as that's all that really matters. Congrats.

Yea I didn't understand that either, BUT I can monitor all of my cars performance in hptuners. Histograms = Man's best friend.

Your cat might have been clogged because 12-13 on the stock pulley is fairly high. I've never heard of over 10.

Doesn't GM rate the kit at like 205 bhp? 196 whp is close to 230 bhp, which with the conservative tune and your additional mods is totally within reason. Personally, I'd be quite happy with that result and the margin of safety that you are running.

It's quite interesting that you're still increasing power after 6500 rpm with stock cams and head. Is this typical of blower applications? I guess it makes sense since boost is proportional to RPM and pully diameter.

I'm still waiting for a J-owner to replace his/her MP62 with a harrop htv1320 unit thats all the rave in the LSJ world...

That is very interesting that it is still making power all the way to 7250. I wonder how it would look with some Comp blower gring cams.
