Alright well first I want to thank everyone who helped me from the audio section.
I had two 12" infinity subs in my car, in a ported box from futureshop, running on my p.325 rockford fosgate amp. It was ok at best. Decent bass but it easily got distorted and eventually really didn't seem to be enough.
So my local car audio shop had T1 12's on sale for $299, on top of that the guy gave me a further discount so I saved a bundle (these are canadian prices). I picked one up because I thought i would rather have one good sub rather than two mediocre ones.
Alright so I was looking at more boxes for this sub from Futureshop, Bestbuy, the usual. None seemed to fit the recommended specs for this sub (2.25 cu/feet) so I thought I'd give a shot a making my own. Now bare in mind that this was the first box I've made so it is anything but perfect. And I still need to get it carpeted, but all in all I think it turned out o.k.
I didn't take any "during" pictures showing it in it's stages but i'm sure you all know what that looks like. The box was built to recommended specs:
box volume: 3.12 cu foot gross
2.25 cu foot net
port: 3" x 13.75" x 25.74"
tuning: 40 hz (termpro)
actual in car: 37 hz
I'm still using the p.325 fosgate amp, but no worries, I'm replacing it, most likely, with the new alpine 1000 watt amp... so that should be a big improvement.
Let me know what you think, comments and criticisms are always welcome.
Thanks.
Paul Eccles
Oh and I forgot to mention. Even using the same amp as my two 12's from before, the t1 blows them out of the water... probably at least twice as loud, I can't wait for that 1000 watt alpine amp!
looks really good, makes me want to rethink my current setup!
nice, but you should have definitely counter-sunk those holes for the screws...
i'm not sure how carpet is going to look on there...
gotta love the RF power series. Looks good, but I agree with ^, hope the carpet doesn't look off because of those screws.
^ I agree. They only stick out the slightest bit (not as much as it looks) but to be perfectly honest I was more interested in it being functional. I should of sunk them but I think it will look ok with carpet. No ones going to be seeing it really unless I just pop the trunk for a friend to see so I'm not too worried.
Also I find it funny that the box I used to hold my two 12's before this was about the same size as this box for one 12. Lol they make those futureshop boxes wayyy to small.
Thats a LOT of screws lol... Yeah, I'd say just give them a reef of a turn on each one to pull them further into the wood so when you carpet it they won't be sticking out.

Looks good to me. Keep up the good works. I have lots of props for a DIYer

Thanks a lot. I really prefer doing what can be done on my own. Much more enjoyable.

Don't even get me started! lol. My last box that was used for my infinity's (got it from Futureshop) actually started to pull apart just from those subs, so I wanted to go overboard with this box to be sure it will last.
I think I used around 200-ish screws for the box, lol and if thats not bad enough I lost my phillips-head attachment for my drill so those 200 went in by hand. Considering that I had to pre-drill each hole and they still go in slow (about 2 to 2 1/2" long) my hands kill today. Lol haha.
great subs, i have the same well not the same company but same builder in my daily driver. so far very impressed
