----Oh Snap!!---- lots of pics!
Saturday, December 29, 2007 4:05 PM
Well I finally got everything on and painted. Thinking about wheels but not sure. It looks better in person due to the @!#$ty weather and light

Few new pics of the s2000 as well

The s2000 is in the autotrader, craigs list, and a few other sites. the minor cracks around the widebody are getting remolded then the car is being repainted. need the money for a down payment on a corvette. the cavalier will most likely go as well as iv put mabye 5-8k miles on it this entire year.. Iv been talking about selling it for quite some time now and im just at that point where i want something different. its a great car and i dont have anything bad to say about it. it just sits. plus i could use the money for the corvette ill just pic up something like a late model civic thats good on gas.

for some reason.... it doesn't look like the front bumper and hood don't match the rest of the car...

Also, any chance you could do me a big favor and send me the paint code off your spare tire well if its not too hard to get to?

Awesome. Just gotta get those stock moldings off. the color is slightly off, but i'm sure in person you would never notice. Wheels are a MUST

The hood pins ruined the look of the hood IMO and to make matters worse the paint does not look like it matches. I like the 00-02 coversion thoughbut without the bumper and hood gap uneven it looks like crap.

wow i forgot how anal people are on this site... what a joke..

the headlights need to be adjusted. hence the gap.and the hood needs to be adjusted to the passanger side a lil bit. thats how it sits now due to iv been working on it today.. its cold as @!#$ and it started raining out.

i like hood pins... makes me sleep better at night knowing the hood cant come up.... i think easy had the turbo sport hood that came up while he was driving

eh.. he HAD hood pins on the hood that flew up man.

liking the look of the car, but the un-matching paint just doesnt look good i hate to say it, but i think that when you sell it you'll be better off to put the stock parts back on just for that reason.

love the color, where'd you get the hood?

Hood and Type-J really go well together.....! I like the flow there.

I'll ignore everything else, that color is a PITA to match and well......someone didn't succeed as it's hard to get away with just doing pieces like such and not blending when it's an item such as a hood and front bumper in this case.

I knew I liked that combo for some reason.

Here are some tips for your front bumper cover.

You need to open the hood and pull it up and maybe even put some spacers between the bumpers plastic tabe and the bumper support.

Your bumper is Sagging A Lot. I had to adjust mine when I first put it on too.

As far as the Hood pins go, umm. No problems at all from this hood in the past 4years. However with a Gap between the bumper and the hood I think you could possibly have some problems.

Also my hood and bumper DO NOT touch eachother. There is no scuffed paint or anything like that, you can probably fit a couple pieces of paper between them.

Getting it all lined up will more than likely get you more $$ out of the sale when you do sell it.

car looks good btw. 1 thing to add. Maybe getting the Entire car wheeled and waxed/polished will help to make the paint match better.

Sorry, 1 more thing. Remove the Front bumper COMPLETELY. Then use some Flat black paint to cover the bumper support. After that you will see the lines of the kit better.

John H [CavalierKid]

Hey man I was not trying to rag on your car, so I hope it was not taken that way. What I was refering to had nothing to do with the headlights since I had already read you were going to adjust them. I was referring to the same thing James (ROLN19S) (JuicyJ) was he just did a much better job explaining it.

As for the hood pins. I had a hood that had hood pins fly up on me once before. It does no good if you forget to put the pins in like I did. Anyway hopefully you are using both the stock latch and the pins.

I was thinking the same as Juicy... wax the crap out of it and I bet it blends better. They have to remember that the rest of the car has been sitting in the sun and the wax/paint could have lightened a little.

no matter how many times you wax/buff the car its not going to get the base color to match. you will be only working on the clear coat, you can get the clear to match up really good doing that, but thats not the coat that has the matching issue.

sometimes pictures look worse than acctually seeing the car in person. how does the matching look to you in the sun, john? and honestly, if you yourself can't notice a difference than it shouldnt matter. your trying to please you and you alone.

another thing is the fact that the hood is fiberglass (or is it carbon?) and the fender is steel. that could also be a factor in why it doesnt match, same goes for the urathane bumper. i myself think the bumper looks fine, its the hood that doesnt.

If the clearcoat has oxidized it will make a big differnce. Since the clarity and shine of the clearcoat will have a big difference it the depth or the wet look of the color coat. I think more of it is just that that is a PITA color to match especially in small amounts.

By the way did you get them moldings off yet? And did I miss something what's this about you selling it?

Juicy J- how did you get your bumper to line up so well? and straighten out the bottom lip panel? that looks really good. i have a few tweeks to do to mine, and then i hope it fits that well.

John H- great looking car, i love the hood/bumper combo as well. just not feeling the stock door guards. but ill let that be, since you know it.
keeep us up to date!

Overall, I like it. Just a few things that I don't like.. mirrors and handles would look better body color, and yea.. the moldings kind of make me cringe. But that's just my opinion..
