Infamous dash crack no more!
Sunday, November 25, 2007 3:35 PM
Finally got around to getting rid of the infamous dash crack. i found the replacement dash sitting in a junkyard, literally, sitting out of a car. on the ground. lol
also painted some interior pieces and put the temp bumper on for the moment.

Enjoy!

^ what the crack looked like since i got the car

^ we struggled with the harmonic balancer/steering wheel puller so we went to autozone and rented this one(and forgot to return it..)

^ what it should look like. gay tan still in here but not for long

^ what was left of the dash. i don't think i can fix this one.

^ back side of the dash. all screw brackets broken

^ i was not stuck. i know i'm fluffy but damn.

^ more black less tan

finally, the 00 base model bumper w/ RK Sport lip
temporary til i finish the one-of-a-kind bumper

C & C welcome
Thanks

I found a uncracked dash in the junk yard and was going to pull it, but I didn't want to take the time and my crack does not bother me that much, it is nothing like yours,
but I did take the cluster and a few other parts from it,

I took the cluster apart and some of the needles came off in the , umm, needles(if that makes sense),

thought I was buggered but I took the little motor apart and it goes back together very well, working on swaping it over to blue led's.

Have to say that the vent cover is not sitting well. looks like it got put in wrong some how. ,
but nice, I like that graphite color, I swapped my headliner over to the graphite one and it looks good.

damn you!! you beat me to it!!

anyways... i feel your pain omar, i did the exact same dash swap this summer. but once i got it all in and put back together i bought sh!t myself it looked so much better. as does yours. you really cannot go wrong when replacing new ISH parts with old busted broken down ones.

keep plugging away at the swap! it will be worth it, personally i have everything else left to finish mine except the carpet, which ill hopefully be getting this spring. DIE GAY TAN!

Out of curiosity, did you happen to see if that lip fit your old Z bumper? I've always wanted to know if that fit, as it would be very close to the technic lip.

Nice score on the dash btw.

i tried it on the 99 z bumper and it fit about the same but i'm not sure because if it's not mounted, it takes two people to make sure it will mount
i could try it later and find out for ya. just get in touch with me down the road and remind me to. okay

Beaner! I was not stuck!! lol
and here's your picture of my ghetto gum that lets my brake lights work

Everyone else. Thanks for the comments.

it's about an inch short on both sides, when mounted flush on the front. been there, tried that.

looks good man, and dont you hate having to crawl around like that haha.

oh yes, crawling around to finish the install was a pain in the back.. lol. glove box screws suck.

Evan - i did a normal 99 dash swap

Joshua - it's only temporary til i finish the one-of-a-kind bumper ( 02 top portion for headlights to sit flush, 99 z bumper for base, and 05 LS Sport lip).
which i consider to be the best of the three phases.
