Well for the past 3 days I have been working on making a mounting base for my c/f APR mirrors to go on the car. They are a universal mirror, so I needed to make a c/f base for them to bolt up to.
What I ended up doing was taking apart my stock mirrors so I could re-use the base for a proper flush mounting. I used a dremmel and cut away at the inside of the mounting base (the triangle piece with the 3 bolts on the backside of the mirror). After looking at it, it stuck out too far still, so I cut it down a bit where it curved outwards and made it more flush. It's hard to explain really, but I guess the pic will explain it all.
Sadly I ran out of batteries after 2 shots
. I am charging them up now, and I will be taking the car out tomorrow for a small photoshoot since it's going to be so nice outside.
Here is one pic that was at least worth showing.
I still need to sand the epoxy smooth. For the most part it came out flawless right from the curing stage of the epoxy being self leveling. Once I sand it smooth and clear coat it, it will look even smoother. I applied 3 coats of resin, and the whole process from taking apart my stock mirrors, to cutting them up to fit properly, and to wrapping in carbon and to the install took me 3 days. The longest part is waiting for the resin to cure.
What do you guys think?
i heart C/F on your car!
Now we need a photoshoot! i know you need it for the calander
for about a year and a half I have been wanting these and have came close to getting them.. I finally get to see what a cavy will look like with them. Mine wont come as near as close as your cavy will look. eagerly waiting for the final outcome.
gotta see them full car to really decide what i think. but i see some sexy looking paint ya got there
Ive always loved those things.... I'm even considering them on my car
Sorry buddy, but that is pretty much the only thing that i dont like about your car. They dont flow well with any car really.
wow thats freaky... i was just thinking the other day to myself that your car would look awesome with that style mirrors

I <3 it! How about an upclose picture of the CF in the front bumper as well??
i was thinking that this would be the only bad thing on your car, why not just get the CF covers for the stockers!?
Mad props Vince, you do great work. The mirrors look fantastic.

Props on the work, not feeling the mirrors. I'd have preferred M3-type mirrors in CF on your car.

Looks pretty good. Although I would have just taken the stockers and wrapped them in cf and made them all a 1 piece unit instead of having it a break away type of mirror

Thanks guys.
You know what, I know some people will either love them or hate them. I know I didn't want the stock mirrors on there, and I just fell in love with this style mirror. It is different and adds that extra little something to the car I think. I love the look and I think they go with the car nicely.
here is a pic with them on the car

I forgot to do that today. I will do that tomorrow for you and post up a picture of a few close ups.

Where did you get self-leveling resin from?
From uscomposites.com. It is the table top resin (Kleer Koat). Yes it levels out nicely but it depends how you apply it too. You still need to do sanding on it though, it will never be completely level.
Well I must say that I absolutly hate 99% those mirrors, even when you posted the first pictures I still wasn't really feeling it all that much. But after you posted the pic of them on your car I must say they look amazing, they just fit your car PERFECT! Well done bro, you definetly have some great taste and a really good vision.

the mirrors work well with the widebody design going on with your car. and the mirrors don't look right on a reg size car anyways. plus, they match so close to the paint scheme you have.
beautiful! just beautiful...
