I figured I would post pics of the changes my car has made in the 3 1/2 years I've had it, since I never have. (And I'm bored at work, and have nothing to do
)
Shortly after I brought it home, only added seat covers (which lasted maybe a week) and a chrome tip on the muffler.
First Mod: AEM CAI (Cromey licence plate frames)
Shaved side moldings & Added Clear Corners
Installed Magnaflow dual catback & Got the 3 rear windows/front sun strip tinted 35% (legal limit)
It started its track life
Got a fiberglassed shaved trunk and decided to throw on my boyfriends Cobalt SS/SC wing that we had laying around since he took it off his car..
Kav & Coby (Winter steelies)
Painted headlights black and installed black corners (also installed intercooler & charge pipes to help reduce downtime curing initial turbo install...)
Then my car decided to grow some balls...
Off goes the stock head and on goes the "race" head
(stock head left... modified right)
And the custom turbo kit install... (also did a quick polish to the valve cover)
Removed front license plate
And its finally finished (battery relocated to trunk as well)
Took of the Maggy catback for the custom exhaust set up to suit the turbo
How it sits today
=
Get a lip kit, lower it and wheels and it will be perfect.
Looking good so far.
nice pics and nice progression
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
Thanks for the comments.
I guess ill admit it... Im planning on going
cav-fire with it.. Im in the process of setting something up with someone that wants to switch fronts. I want it to have a much meaner face and i feel the 95-99 fires do the best with that. Hopefully everything goes through ok and I can do the swap soon. I then just have to weld up/mold the evil eyes in (which varying on what weather permits... may not happen till after winter, but it'll get there). So as far as the body - we'll see what happens with it... i have a few ideas but my main goal is to finish building my spare block to get my lil OHV to 12's in the 1/4 mile.
Drop and rims are deffinatly in the future but we'll see what finances allow over the next year or so.... Im looking for 15" or maybe 16" black 5 spoke star rims...
Wow, i never knew you were a girl....
Nice progress over time.
lol why is everyone surprised when they find out?
Thanks for the comment... I still have a long road ahead of me
The goal is 12s... No nitrous... Then I will be satisfied with its performance... At least thats the plan... I have a feeling once it hits 12s ill want 11s.. LOL
And yes, the 2200 OHV can play with the big boys
i want your trunk set up so baaad!
Thanks QBE, I love it too
And thanks Freak, lol.. i wanted it for awhile but I couldn't put the wing on until i got a trunk without holes, and PJ came along <3 and gave it to me
Damn, do you do all the work yourself?
NIce setup ya got, keep it up.

Also, got any female friends that love to work on cars?

we have a 99 sunfire 2..2 5 speed and the set up has gone almost the same as yours aem cold air, cat back exhaust and a short shifter
planning on a turbo set up when we can find a donner to dismantel
question for ya .....
where is the turbo/intercooler set up from ?
other then the race head what did u guys do to the block ... high comp pistons ?
and obviously injectors
where is the race head from and did it come complete?
can u estimate how much u have put into this build excluding labour ?
Any Info on this would be Great
thanks and keep up the good work !
Thanks for the compliment dale.
Currently my block is 100% stock. I have a turbo camshaft sitting in my living room... not doing much in there, but i really cant wait to use it... and my spare block that im going to build is in my bf's rent's the garage. The spare engine was given to my by "daflyinskwirl", it was skwirls first engine. I have alot of plans for it, as i want it to be able to support alot of boost.
The head came modified (from PJ), but had problems. The engine wouldn't run safely the way it was given to me, i had to give it some TLC. He had it... port & polished, 5 angle valve job, jbp valve springs, cromoly locks & retainers, howell auto pushrods and the golden race series crane rockers. I believe thats it. The reason why the motor was "blown" was because he shouldnt have used higher lift rockers with the way the valve seats were machined/with those vavle springs. Basically the pushrods came out of their seat in the rocker and created their own seat just next to it. It only happened to the 4 on the exhaust side i believe. That caused it to run like @!#$ when he had it, as well as it blocked those 4 pushrods from letting oil flow through them. they had parts of the rockers just jam packed into them. i took a risk by seeing if it was still all usable, but the amount of money that was put into the head said it was worth a try for me. All i did was replace the pushrods with new howell auto ones and use my stock rockers and wow that thing runs like a champ.
The turbo is from a shop online that specializes in rebuilding garrett turbos. wow do they suck, haha. Me and my boyfriend are stlil starting out i mean, we only moved in together a li over a year ago, so i dont want to spend all our spare money so we went with a rebuilt instead of new. The seals and bearings are @!#$ in the turbo, took about 700 miles lol. Kav's parked right now but i have some very high quality internals sittin right next to me waiting to go in. I was going to start it today but its pouring and i dont have my own garage to work in... But @!#$ happens, not a big deal to me, its still the perfect turbo for my set up.
My intercooler and charge piping are like the only non "name brand' parts in my build. I mean how hard is it to really @!#$ up an intercooler lol. Its a "Turbo XS" and works great. I mean if i was running 20 psi id prolly need an upgrade but it works great for my current set up.
So to clarify the "race head" is a modified stock head. I call it that to separate it from my other, completly stock head lol.
Im not sure how much PJ put into the head, but im estimating about 1,000. And in the turbo set up ive maybe put around 3,000 for everything, i mean including the piping for the exhaust and stuff... So estimating somewhere around 4,000 is under the hood. And for the block, i estimated off of one site, that 2,000 will get me everything i need... so im saving up! the only thing slowing be down on MY build is my BF's... We have to fix the SS, and unfortunately modifying comes after repairs... and since we have to go in there anyways he wants to upgrade it. Which is ok with me, i mean we've spent this past year getting the parts for Kav so his car deserves a lil attention now, lol.
