You'll definitely like it. I LOVE mine But where they had to drill the new oil passage in the 3rd pic down...it looks JB welded around the plug. Not sure if that's the case...just curious what that is. Also see that you went without the brace for the oil pickup. May not be a big deal, but b/c of engine vibes, I went with it to be safe. What CR pistons did you go with?

thankz, the compression is 9:1 cause i WAS going turbo but not now because of some financial setbacks. I do have the brace for it but i didnt put it on there in the pic cause the pump isnt bolted on yet. I do plan to get those ARP Main Studs, is it too late?

Once the main caps are bolted down, it may be too late. I would buy new bearings if you have to take it apart again for ARP main studs.

u dont NEED the arp bolts. its not to late to do it now, but i really wouldnt bother, just get the ARP head studs since the head isnt bolted on yet. was anything done to the head? if not contact pat cleavenger (project pat) on here, he can flow bench port your head, he did a suberb job on mine so i recommend his work.

sucks bought ur financial probs, i was lookn forward to seeing a turbo'd alero on here. great job on the engine man, i know you had quite the time getting it built and what not, but look at your new prized possession, im saying the trouble was worth it. good job sir.

All the 2.3L and 2.4L engines are called Quad's. Quad as in 4....4 cyl. It's a GM thing.

I know...maybe it's because the Quads are DOHC and felt they were worthy of the name.

I always thought it was "Quad 4" meaning something like 4valves/cyl and 4 cyls..

either way. I want videos of this motor running. STAT!

Ha, you and me both buddy. I still need the following to finish the build:

-Oil pan modify for the pump
-Poweder coat timing chain housing, Quad 4 IDI cover, Intake camshaft housing,
-port n polish head, ARP head studs
-find another 2.3 HO intake manifold cause the one mantapart send me is junk
-buy NEW secret cams
-get the ecotec cold air and modify it to fit my LD9
-etc.

Take pics of what's junk about your manifold, I'd like to see.

Also, I've got a true HO mani, HO tb, and the Fontana adaptor that I'm kind of thinking about parting ways with. PM me if your interested.

I like your thinking man, you've done your homework. new cams are a VERY good idea. make sure to get new lifters as well.

I also am very fond of the AEM cai for the eco's done up on a 2.4 w/ the ho manifold. nice n clean looking.

^^If you are talking about the windage tray, no cutting is needed. Just have to bend it inwards a tad bit and it will fit fine.

88-95 2.3L LO/HO/W40/W41 are Quad 4
96-02 2.4Lare twin cam

as in 4....4cyl lol

this motor is a Quad 4/twim cam hybrid.it is not a Quad 4.

A twin cam IS a quad4..some changes were made and the name was changed to simply get away from the name that had a bad image at the time so that the engine would sell better...but still considered a quad4 by GM....
