Dont you hate it when parts decide they dont like the track
Wednesday, October 17, 2007 9:25 AM
Well i went to the track last night and got 17 runs in last night. Started off at a 15.9 @ 85 mph and got her down to a 15.5 @ 87-88mph with consistent 2.17-2.199 60' times.....

Then my axle decided it didnt like the track anymore. What happened is i started to launch at 4500 dragging the clutch out as to not wheel hop and SNAP!!!!!!!! Made it about 10' down the track rolling. The tires gripped and snapped the axle

I think its about time to get my built motor done.... This motor dies after the 330 mark.

Also dynoed my car last Sat 134 hp and 134 tq As you can see in my dyno the power drops considerably in the top end (no header on the car either). Not too bad for a 175k mile motor.

BTW the nitto NT555r Drag Radials stick like no other after they get warm.

BTW Thanks to Chris, Brett, Brian, and Kayla for helping with getting my axle replaced at the track

Ill get better pix of the axle and some of the 17 time slips in my registry this week.

lol, when u called and told me i seriously went

but whatever man, i think a lot of us have been there with faulty parts, i myself snapped a shift cable at the track and had to drive home (90 miles) in 4th gear, not a fun experience with a brand new clutch that only had 2000 miles on it after you spent $400 on it and need to stop at a a few stop signs

find that receipt!!!

You are correct Nitto's love to be warm. I usually start my burnout in 1 gear, then go into second to get them nice and hot!!

It was so bad that once they were hot my car could barely turn them over lol

I actually let my front tires just barely sit in the water box. This way when I rev up and dump they spin, then get into second gear as soon as possible, once you get them spinning in second you can sit there all day and burn em. Now if your track does not put any water down then it is hard.

Yeah there is a waterbox but they were putting me in the edge of the box and by the time i could have shifted to 2nd my car pulled out of the box.

O well things to try next year.

Old motors FTW!! I just got a 15.4 on my 160,xxx mile motor. @!#$ty track and @!#$ty tires! Sad news about the axel, but thats actually not a bad break. Easy to change and relatively inexpensive to replace. Now get the motor done!!

17 launches on drag radials = busted axle. Makes perfect sense to me, I don't really see the need for shock from some... an axle is an axle, you play front wheel drive game long enough and you're gonna pwn your fair share of them. Better the axle than the tranny is what I like to say.

Good to hear you got it replaced at the track, taking the car home under anything buts its own power is always a downer for sure.

15.5 isn't anything to be too upset about, that motor has a damn lot of miles on it, and I'm sure they haven't been easy miles. But., being the guy running mid 15s on drag radials must've sucked a bit. I'm sure the honda guys chuckled a bit.

I found out why the axle gave loose. The Nbody axle has a taper in it like the paint picture i made and thats the exact spot i broke it. Granted the angle isnt as extreme as my picture but you get the idea.

and about the honda guys chuckling.... oh well i dont like wearing my street tires down.
