The New Addition

I know its not a J but its still the new baby in the fam - 1997 Dodge Ram SLT Laramie V8 Magnum. We have a few plans for it such as intake + exhaust, front grill guard, roll bar and some bigger tires. It doesnt need a lift - the SLT Laramies come with a 2-3" factory lift. But for the most part its going to stay pretty stock for quite awhile that way we have a reliable 3rd vehicle since both our cars are our toys

yes i know the weak spot is the tranny, they say its good til about 140K or longer if its been taken care of. And it has the 318 motor which is a very good engine. Carfax showed that the truck had 1 owner, only brought to one dodge dealer for all its checkups & oil changes... it was well taken care of. It has 80k miles on it and the exterior is in just as good/if not better shape than my 02 Cav.

Yeah, I would have one if it weren't for the tranny issues that I've heard so much about!! I know 3 of my friends that have gone through trannies on those things like nothing! But at the same time, I have a cav with a 2.4 that I've replaced also, so not much better!!

im just a sucker for the rams, in my opinion they are the nicest looking trucks, so ill take the risk of tranny problems. @!#$ like you said we do drive cavaliers

I've got a 95 with 157,000 on it and no transmission issues, and a 360 powering it at that. No idea where that is coming from. I abused the hell out of it lately too..

i actually prefer the off-roading look on trucks... I think the 'mini' trucks look better slammed on 20s or bigger as far as that goes. we are probably going to stay with 16s on it and get some big beefy tires. maybe do a minor body lift and the other stuff i mentioned in the beginning.
