Haha, that makes 3 cavs this month that drove hoodless to pick up a hood! Nice pickup bro.
i just wetsanded with 2000 grit and then i hand buffed with rubbing compound. were using something by mothers i believe. i would have to ask seth.
3M Rubbing Compound - Can be found at walmart if you don't want to buy a big expensive bottle. They have the stuff with wax in it but I don't recommend it for taking oxidation out because it makes it harder to see what is still oxidized.
We went to 2000 grit wet sand because the rubbing compound wasn't cutting it.
Tomorrow we'll go over it with 2000 grit paper again and turtle wax rubbing compound which is a little grittier than the 3M and then we'll go over that with the 3M and finally wax it.
The bumper was sanded with 60 grit around the problem areas, v notched on the front and back of the rip, "reshaped" with a heat gun and wet towel and then filled with SEM Problem Plastic Repair #39768 and fiberglass reinforcement (drywall tape) on the back. Then the whole bumper was wet sanded with 360 grit and then the areas that needed it were shot with adhesion promoter, primer, and then blocked out with 360. Finally, all bare plastic was shot with adhesion promoter (Sherwin Williams UPO7226).
In case anyone wanted to know, lol.

looks good man get a drop and some rims and you would have a clean lookin 4 door
Hahaha, I forgot taht you guys are here in Laramie. I havent seen ya running around yet. But, are either of you in refinishing yet? If either of you are in night refinishing, did you guys see someone in a white t-shirt walk into night class refinishing the other day to talk to Mark? That was me! PS, I need somebody in refinishing to powdercoat my charge pipes, one of you guys should do it for your 100's. I have the powdercoat ready to go.
haha. were bothe in ASM right now. what kinda car do you have??? plus i think when i do Refinishing imma powdercoat some Z wheels bronze for my 100's but. maybe seth. or maybe one of us could get extra credit for it.
Meh, when your in refinishing, I will be outta here. I went and talk to Mark, he said they could find somebody. I just figured it would give ya some experience with the powdercoat gun and oven. I drive a red 96 z24, beat to sh#%. When your getting on the freeway(I-80) in south laramie, headed West, the enterance ramp is really tight, well, look at the steel stakes taht line the outside of the corner, and the last four are laying on the ground. My roomate decided to take my car when he was drunk, and tried taking it at 75. Didnt work. Driver side quarter panel is bashed in, gay altezza tailights. Got the car for free, minus motor and tranny. Where do you guys live?
we live in campus courtyard. and that sucks ass.
that hood doesnt look as bad as i thought it would, but i thought u wanted the other hood. The work u did looks great. I need to ask u some questions about underglow. so talk to u later.
