Here's a pic of the '99 Cavalier RS. Looks exactly like it does now just without the clear corners.
Things done:
- Dropped 2" on Sprint lowering springs
- Removed air box, replaced with cone air filter
- Clear corners
- Rockford Fostgate CD player
- NGK spark plugs
- Autolite plug wires
More info added later.
Brett
wow, I haven't seen those wheels in a while...You should consider getting the rust fixed first, if you plan on dropping a lot of money into it...It's a start and happy modding!
Planning on it I just need to find a good place and a good price, which those two don't usually go in the same sentence when it comes to rust.
I was in a hurry when I added the pics and stuff so here's some more info...
- It has 99.5k miles
- Removed side body moldings and Rally Sport emblems
- NGK Iridium spark plugs ($7 each) with Autolite plug wires
- 5W-30 Valvoline motor oil
- Removed spare tire
- Rockford Fostgate head unit
- Removed stock air box and replaced with cone air filter
- Dropped two inches on Sprint lowering springs
Wish List:
- Front upper strut tower bar
- 5 speed swap
Only raced three times and won three times against '90 Chevy Camaro 305, '92 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, and one more that I cant think of, I'll let ya know...

Do it yourself work is a wonderful thing. Will save you a TON of money, you get the satisfaction if working on your car and saving money, and you gain a ton of knowledge instead of just paying someone else to work on your car.
Also, I have never driven a Camaro with a stock 305.. but I can tell you that my 305 which is very lightly modded would absolutely RAPE a stock Cavaliers ass any day. So I am very un-sure of if I want to believe that statement or not..

Yeah not so sure on that either,I had an 84 Camaro Z28,stock 305,were you bracket racing at the track?

No its a friend of mines actually. He just bought it bone stock and there must be something wrong with it. First time we raced we were both bone stock except I had the Sprint springs on it, I won by about a car length on the street. Then both of us added plugs, wires, and did intake work and raced on the street again and I won by half a car length. Not sure how but I still won. After the second race, we raced from a 15mph roll and he beat me by half a car length so it must be something with his "off the line" racing abilities.
If I knew how to deal with and make rust look better then I would definitly do something about it, but the two problems are I'm not a body work type of guy and the rust goes all the way through the body. So I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to do some bondo work, or carefully weld a piece of sheet metal on it, or whatever.
Bondo is not going to fix that and if you don't know how to do body work then my suggestion is find a good
shop or a friend with skill.

He most definitely has some running issues then. My car is pretty damn good off the line for what it has in it. Are you sure it wasn't a 2.8 or something? LOL j/k
I know nothing of body work either, and while I don't have any rust to fix.. I wouldn't be scared to learn. The only way to learn is to jump in and do it. There are always people out there who know what they are doing that you can ask questions too.
