got a question for people with racing seats... how / where did you mount your drivers side set belt buckle?

yeah its weird, ive seen some cav's with that buckle mounted to the floor, and some to the seat. not sure what years are what tho. i think mounting it on the seat is a bad idea, not very safe if you ask me.
im assuming you may have to drill and tap a new hole in the floor and get one of the strong stock torx bit bolt that's used for them, or simply take one out of the back seat belt spots.

yeah i didnt know about mounting them to the seat. thats how mine is right now but i dont think its quite as safe incase the bracket fails for some reason.

My driver's buckle was bolted to the side of the seat -- when I switched seats, I ran the bolting hole of the buckle down to the right-rear seat stud and sandwiched it under my seat bracket when I bolted it down. The position of the buckle is a bit awkward at about 1" below the edge of the seat, but I've gotten used to it. I've toyed with the idea of making an extender, but I'd rather not take safety into my own hands unless I'm sure I've got a bulletproof solution.

I am confused....My buckles are bolted to teh floor on both sides....Did they switch this between years? Doesnt sounds safe at all being connected to even the stock seat. They arent very reinforced....
My drives side is on the seat to, i have switched to 2000+ seats also and still on the seat, i don't think i have ever seen them on a 3rd gen mounted to the floor on the drivers side

It does seem odd, but I like to think they at least ran this by the safety authorities and did some testing. If this was a "disgusting" design, you would think with all the J's out there crashing into things we would have discovered a problem by now.

like i said, ive seen both setups in 3rd gen cavs. either bolted to the seat or bolted to the floor.
i really dont see it being that big of a deal bolting it to the floor. it'd be much safer than having it on the seat anyways IMO.
they look great brophy...what'd you get a fix me ticket for?
