Tint and Wax = Gratuitous Photos
Monday, May 07, 2007 5:44 AM
Finally took my car to a guy that knows how to tint windows last week, which trumped my feeble do-it-yourself tinting attempts. It now features 20% tint all around. Along with a weekend wash and wax, I took some simple shots against the wall where I work. Not very scenic, but maybe I'll think of some better backdrops some other time.

I usually avoid the "look, I'm falling over" angle, but I'm throwing this one in for the poeple who like that sort of thing.

Feel free to comment on my hack job on the front air dam, or the undersized tires. Possibly also the places where the paint is beginning to deteriorate, though I definitely tried to hide those spots. My non-parking wipers are certainly fair game, and the seagull-shaped crack in the middle of my bug deflector is also quite interesting.

the wrong sized tires completely throw off the entire look of the car

It's true. Even with the time I've had to get used to them, I'd rather they were the correct size. It doesn't look like it will get fixed this season, though. Maybe next year. On the bright side, they make it so that my car is about a 1/2" closer to the ground than usual.

On a related note, the wheels defintely roll better after I got them balanced. I thought that maybe some of the wheel weights had come off when they were shipped to me, and it looks like I may have been right. This is a cluster of stick-on weights that was ADDED. No wonder I was getting some vibration when they needed a dozen 1/4 ounce weights on this wheel alone.

Thanks. I got them in the group sale, and they're working out pretty well.

Very nice seats! You car desperately needs a new front bumper though, that 95-99 base model bumper is horrid! lol. Definently a good start though...

Send me a free Import Figher bumper, and I'd think about it. Seriously though, I'm not planning any substantial body mods -- at least not before I find out how many more seasons I'll get out of my current (original) paint job.

To be honest, it's the rear bumper that bothers me the most. I'm astonished that they produced so many third-gen rear bumpers that look like the car is presenting and wants to get humped by a Neon.

Definitely still on the top of my wish list. I just can't justify the expense of the base cost, shipping to Canada, and prep work. Now if you can find me one for sale in Canada that's already painted red, we're in business.

You think so? Thanks! I try to make them a little more interesting since everybody seems to congregate around the threads by people that are spending their life savings on air ride, widebody kits, and turbos. The only way I can compete with those people is in terms of resale value.

One more thing -- it just occured to me that I don't think I've seen a single other Cavy with a bug guard quite like mine. The few that I do find by looking through the member search seem to have an obvious staggered dip in the middle along the top edge. I thought mine was a "factory" piece, but God only knows were the dealership found it. Maybe my bug deflector is a collector's item.

Nice looking ride ... good job on everything so far. @!#$ty wheels though. Don't know what people see with these big wheels that leave the car with that hollow look. Only time I like the way they look is if the shadow makes it dark inside to see or if there is a big brake kit or something.

i'd have to fully agree, there's just no way there should be that much wheel gap w/ 18's

I really like you rims. Get a Z kit and you will be set or get an Import fighter kit.
