Began Turbo Install....
Saturday, May 05, 2007 8:20 PM
Here is the first part of the install. I still have to drive it so we basically have a reeaallly long intake on it for now, but it'll cut off a good amount of time when we are ready to install the turbo. Hopefully within the next week if i can get the parts in on time. All i need is a new head gasket and a 2-bar map sensor. But here is some of the progress....

My boy tightening up a few last bolts.

And a project ive been working on here and there over the last week. My first piece of custom interior work.

Comments welcome

it goes to about where the turbo is going to be connected to it, except i have an air filter on the end to keep it covered up. I just wanted to get a step ahead once we really start putting the project together. Also i cant leave it torn apart because i need to drive it for the most part. i would say we'll be finishing it up in about a week, maybe if i get the parts later than next weekend. but its pretty much ready to be put in.

Are you actually using the AEM with it? Isn't it quite a bit bigger ID?
I guess since you have the old 2.2 it isn't the same as me, but I wouldn't have been able to do my install with my front bumper still on, you have to lean on the front of the car all the time...
Keep the pics coming

lol its all good dave, i was gunna say.... and im sure im going to have to take the bumper off again, not like its that hard. in fact im planning on it to double check all the clamps before i start it up under boost. but like i said. i have to drive it. and yea the aem intake is 2 3/4 inch and my charge pipes are 2.5 so i have a reducer on there. not to worried about that yet. just wanna get it turboed and running good and then ill worry about tweaking everything.

Thanks for the comments everyone! It should be done and tuned within 2 weeks.

The Camaro is my boyfriend's fathers. Its a 1979 that came with a V6. He put a V8 in there with a head off of a different V8. He has to have a raised hood because the blower is too big to fit under the stock hood. I dont know too much about it, I think thats it. lol. Oh yea, its Over Head Valve... OHV all the way!!!!

so is your poor little OHV sucking threw all the intercooler piping, and intercooler (until you get the turbo on there of course)?

Looks like a pretty good start, I wanted to pick up a base/sport front bumper like your's to hide my intercooler setup (and not have to cut the damn fog lights out of yet another Z bumper, lol)

yes my lil OHV has to suck through all that piping for now. but makes the final install that much easier :p your looking for a base bumper and i wouldnt mind a z kit. lol.
