Posting pics that is. So I got home from work early enough to do some minor work on the front strut mounts, then Jay-Van got me ambitous. Had to clean it up quick enough to still use the setting sun and this is what I ended up with...
Not too bad for 132K on it. That was the good side though...
It does have some cancer getting bad on that side
. Hopefuly that will get taken care of later in the summer, along with some other areas of touch up.
And lastly, I do realy deserve this badge

Glad to see her all cleaned up. If you need a shop to fix that spot rot I'll talk to my guys and see what kinda deal they can cut for you. Might be pricey as they'll definately replace that section, but it'll be done right!

Looks like years of Gas run off down the side of the quarter panel took toll. I see alot of cars like that, not just J-Bodies.

Hate to say it, I highly disagree. That area is double-walled, and normally goes from the inside out, as it's a great place for moisture/salt to hide behind being it has a lip to cling to, not to mention it's a PITA to get to and keep clean.
Same reason the doors rust where the skin folds over on the bottom. I only know this as those both were trouble areas on my '97................

I originaly thought it might have been a bad repair, but after talking with a few people in the know, what Joe says is most likey correct for my car, and probably for most other Cavys you see like that.

I have the rust happening on my car too. I say WTF to that since its an 03 and I am VERY careful not to have gas run down the side. The previous owner was prob a douche and let the gas pee out on the body so maybe that could be it. I have no knowledge with painting stuff, but does that whole section have to be repainted? Im sure it does since it would make sense to. Grrr to cancer!!!! Oh and the previous owner had my car rust-proofed. Guess they never got to that part cuz they didnt want to remove things. And there goes $200 bucks for a "professional" rust proof job. Cool!
