My new 2 tone paint job

I figured you all would like to see the new 2 tone paint job on my car. It goes together really well I think.

Gotta love Del dot and the amount of salt they're using for even a dusting of snow.

Salt is very bad for the car, causes rust faster then anything BUT.....

Its not that easy to clean it. If you wash the car you can't dry it before it turns to ice, no to mention your doors freeze closed and the lock cylinders freeze the mourning after. Alot of the time you have to let the cars sit like that for quite some time before cleaning it is a realistic option. Even using warm/hot water isn't an option, it breaks windows. Your profile says your from Miami, living down there you don't really get the whole picture. It gets very very very cold, and in cold weather there is a thing called a wind chill, its liek a heat index but for the cold ( btw not trying to sound liek a smartass, some people have never heard of it) I know out where i live (Chicago) its not uncommon to see wind chill temps well into the negatives, its so cold its almost painful inside to breath, it makes your teeth hurt, you almost feel out of breath when your outside in it, granted thats on a COLD day but the point remains, a car wash is not an option. Car washs actually close down because the body of the car is so cold even the soap suds freeze to the body.

it will get cleaned tomorrow. supposed to be in the 40's so I'll clean it off and get the salt off of it. especially the underside.

it looks like the clone of my car..except less salt. they overdo it it jersey big time, instead of snow drifts on the side of the road its salt drifts. Supposed to get up into the 20's tomorrow should be warm, it was only 2 deg F when I woke up today..

haha yea there was a windchill in the negatives this morning and had no power from 12:30 am to 6:15 am. worst part is that my dad is on oxygen full time and having to gather bottles in the dark is fun so he has some oxygen to get him through the night.

yeah one advantage about being on a fire department, no matter how cold it is, the heated wash bay is always open. wash it in there, turn the heat up, let it air dry and yay you are done

PS I hate winter.

I just want it warm enough so that the winter windshield washer fluid (that supposedly won't freeze til -20) doesn't freeze solid, haven't been able to clear the windshield in 3 days..had to take a hot towel outside today just to wipe the salt off to see. And damn you vincent

Could just use a lighter to find the Oxygen bottles!!

BTW, here in SD, cali! It's like 65-70 everyday... maybe like 58 or something in the mornings... kinda cold, I know!

In the first pic you can see marks from where the body shop burnt the clear coat with the buffler. This was from when the dents in the quater panel were repaired.

to add to this post

think of it this way. If you constantly wash your vehicle when salt gets on your car. its normal for the common person to think its good doing that but to me its not. Its better to leave it dirty and salty cause the fact that when the salt gets on there it does its job then it just sits on the vehicle. If you constantly wash it, it leaves it vunerable to the damage causing salt. So to me its better to leave the salt on the vehicle cause its actually like a protective cover against new salt getting on the vehicle. it also helps to properly maintain the car like waxing it after winter and once before winter comes.

Both of my cars look like that too & we've had .25" of snow this year! Days later the roads are still white.. A tad bit of overkill this past week I'd say!
