its time to POLISH !!!!
first stage - smooth casting marks
i polished the part above the cams, step 2 - 320 wet , step 3 - 1500 wet
step 4 - mothers aluminum polish
i post some progress soon
i deff would have went with some finer grits inbetween stage 2 and 3 to get rid the heavy scratches but nice nonetheless

dont need to, the polish and hand rubbing takes out a ton of scratches. you do it enough, they all leave.
It will look good when it's done. I tried polishing mine, but i quickly ran out of patience and had it powdercoated.
If I ever do another one, I will just powdercoat it chrome.
That looks really good man, I've been wanting to do mine too. Along this same line I was wondering, could I take my cover off with out having to replace the gasket? I've been wanting to polish mine, I think I've gottong it pretty well with it still being on the car but I want to get the little spots and everything. Just wondering thanks a lot.
my buddy's dad owns a chrome shop...... he dipped mine for free

it is alot of work, this is an extra cover i took off a blown motor we swapped in our shop, always replace the gasket. why do all this work and make an oily mess later.
i would like to see some pics of a powder coated or chromed cover, i need ideas !!!!
