I like it, might be interested in getting one eventually as my hood has a nice bend near the headlight from my friend bambi. Can anyone tell me what front end is on that cav in the picture?
^^ That is the newer style bomex front end. couple of changes from the other bomex. Sides and rear havent changed.
your idea has merit, but here are two things that should be addressed:
1-- the eyelids need a slightly sharper angle. example: in the second pic you posted, the eyelids should angle from the corner of the fender to the corner of the bumper. your pic angles the lid to about an inch above where it should go. much more aggressive and noticeable, but still wont affect light output.
2--if you are going through the trouble to make a mold and new hood, dont just add eyelids. in fact, you should make a new STYLE for the 03+ guys. i mean there is no company that makes a nice COWL style hood for the cavs. and dont just do a mold from a stock hood and a bolt on cowl scoop. actually design something that will look good for the J. meaning it should be 2.5-3" high and actually FLOW with the car...not something that sticks straigh up. imagine a nice mustang cowl....ill look for some pics for examples
NOT LIKE THIS...TOO BLOCKY AND WILL NOT LOOK RIGHT ON A J. leave this type of thing to 80s f bodies, mustangs and older trucks.

SOMETHING LIKE THIS IS WHAT WE NEED. it needs to be a subtle, yet noticeable cowl. keep it open at the windshield and itt should flow out as it goes back. add with that the eyelids and youve got a score! you could probably sell enough that you could duplicate the style to the 95-02 cavs and even 95-02 fires.
Check out my CARDOMAIN page
I think it's a great lookin hood, but I also think you can do better with the eyelids. Here's an idea I chopped. It's an animated GIF with 5 secs per frame to show what I changed.

FOR SALE: (5) '95-'99 Z24 Rims
its not as easy as people seem, it very hard to make to make it look right cause of the headlight/hood line. they are meant to be level, you can't go real extreme or they are gonna hit, which means the hood wont sit flush, or the eyelid section will be bubbled out over the lights for clearance over the headlights.
Yep, thats why I didnt do it.

Yours looks great. Did you do that yourself or did the hood come like that? If it did, please tell me where you got it.
It came as a VIS CF invader hood, noone makes them liek that
if you did it in carbon fiber i would keep my 03 front
If this hood gets made with Cf and eyelids I'll convert my front end to 03+
