I know this doesn't really compare to the ' pics of my engine build' threads in here! but it's something I did in preperation for my boost project and it was simple enough to do, so I thought it might help someone.
pics are huge, don't know how to fix it.
I decided that i wanted to cut the hard line instead of taking off the rail n injectors, having to worry about crap getting in there, and using up all that time. So instead I went to a hose and rubber shop, got a 3/8 compression fitting farule tee with a 1/8 female up top. Removed the fuel line from the rail and used a reg pipe cutter to hack it up. deburred it, started the pump to clear the rail out, put the pieces on and tightened em down. I just used a 17$ fuel pressure gauge to get the job done. not the prettiest job, but I'm completely satisfied with the work and how it turned out. hope this helps someone.
w/pipe cutter i used.
fuel pressure is only at 32 and about 41 at wot. Thought this was kinda low since i keep hearing about 44 and up for idle??? Don't think my pumps weak or anything like that but it is a 97 and I use to drive it kinda hard. I don't know. Mabye my car is just special.
I hope there was no debris in the fuel line?
Other than that, looks Good!
JJJJJJJEEEEEEEEGGGGGS!
ECOTEC now with Maximum Bolt-Ons!!
thanks
well i filed everything down and wiped it too. Then I put it together and just turned the key to activate the pump and held a bucket there to catch the gas coming out. After that I hooked it all the way up to the rail and called it done.
Anyone have a comment on my pressure being 32? Just wondering cause i think the lowest i've heard of is 38, but generally its suppose to be like 46 or some crazy number.
ahhh can't wait to be putting up the turbo install pics instead of just a crumby pressure gauge!
how do u know wut ur pressure is at when at WOT?
Here's mine on my 2.2L:
Drilled and tapped the integral fuel rail, flushed it, installed a 90* pipe fitting and screwed the gauge on there. I had to remove the coolant reservoir and use a 90* drill head to get in there, but it worked.

Paint the fittings. Brass looks out of place. imo.
fuel pressure should be 44psi. and you can get wot fuel pressure by removing the vacuum line and plugging the vacuum line.
Hmm painting em would be a nice touch. I'm in the middle of painting my interior but I know I can't use that paint.
Can I use that high temp engine paint? reg rattle can prob just flake off once hot.
my 97 2.4 was in the low 40's at idle
also it is the recomended spec at idle
