Me and kacie decided to deaden the car this past couple days. She did her half and I did mine, which made things go pretty fast. Thank god she didn't mess anything up
This is some stuff I picked up at lowes that was 70 bucks for 108 sq ft. It is in their roofing department and it is very similar to dynamat. It is an asphalt/butyl mix I think. The asphalt products I have used before didn't adhere nearly this well, and it would droop in the heat, but this stuff sticks like there's no tomorrow and it loves the heat like fat kids love cake and just sticks even better. Here's some updated pictures, we ended up using all 108 sq ft

And that's the extra I put on... a little more effective.
This shows a couple different colors of the deck. It has three sets of 5 volt pre outs, a seven band eq, high and low pass 12db crossovers, motorized faceplate with three tilt settings and 7000+ pretty colors which is what my wife likes about it.
Another picture of the door... I think we might have added more deading, I'm not sure, we have so many layers on the doors it is silly.
The rear deck will have mb quart 5x7's in it, I am one of those weirdos that like rear fill, sorry.
The trunk will be getting another 1 or two layers of deadening before the subs go in. I plan on running 3 Elemental Designs 13kv.2's.

whats the name? i need some but dont feel like replacing my pocket after a dynamat purchase burns a nice size hole through it.
So whats with the carpet foam?
and do you like the smell of tar?

Lol on the carrie underwood cd. I tried to ban my wife from bringing cd's in the car, but then she gets bored and talks too much, so I let her have a few. hehe
It is called grace ice and water shield. The only place I could find it was at lowes. The other places had similar stuff, but it was some of the stuff I used before that didn't stick very good. This product is waaaaayy better. Better than anything I have ever used before. I will never use anything but this again. Especially for the price. Here are a couple of pictures of the box so you can know what to look for. REALLY good deal compared to dynamat.
I got completely finished with the doors and under the carpet inside the cab. I am going to put 2 more layers on the trunk before I get my ED subs in. Keep the comments coming and tell me what you think!
The smell isn't that bad, it has almost completely faded already and it has only been on for about a day. Like I said, I don't know exactly what it is made of, probably rubberized asphalt. But it is almost exactly the same as Edead v1 without the foil. A lot like fatmat too. Even the specs on it are the same.
Ok, since i used fatmat, thats good to know. How many boxs did you pic up?
I only picked up 1 because of limited fundage, but will be picking up a couple more some time to finish the trunk and roof with a couple more layers. And I have the carpet padding in there just to kill a little extra noise. It has a whole bunch of different density pieces in it and seems to work really well at blocking higher pitched and midrange sounds.

Cheap cheap cheap rolls of roofing waterproofing strips, I think I've done everything you have except the roof and I love it. (may need to double up tho, it's like an obession haha)
Have you had trouble with your trunk not opening all the way on it's own, now that it's got more weight?
It doesn't open all the way, but it unlocks and pops up fine, I can lift it the rest of the way

Seriously, it is one of the best deals I have ever got on sound deadener. It is like 94 out today and I went out and checked the trunk and no sagging, no edges drooping, nothing and I can't even peel it up at the corners. Good @!#$. gooooooooood @!#$
How does it smell in the hot temps?
How much does it weigh? And double the question about smell when its hot. Try leaving the windows up and parking it in the sun for a while.
if you look in the trunk , on each side youll see the trunk spring rods , and 3 levels , going up puts more tension on the spring rods , so it will lift up a little more
if your car came with out a rear spoiler , then get the rods from a trunk with the spoiler , they are usually a little heavier
kinda looks like that blotch art in school , lol
as longs as its quieter inside , and less rattle its good
might have to run by lowes and pick me some of that stuff up.
Am I the only one that wants the benifits of sound deadener made for sound deadener, by a sound deadener company, oh and 100% butyl based and no asphalt? sorry... i guess not everyone will do it right... if that works for you, fine... im sticking with Second Skin

i sell the same stuff at work, well not Grace, but we carry Big Red ice and water sheild.. i asked my vendor if he ever heard of this stuff being used for sound deadening, and he says 30% of their sales in the states are being used for it

trust me, dynamat is what, 400 bucks for an entire car lets say, and u can get the entire car done with I&W Shield for 64.99.. hmm... sure it might not do as good as dynamat, but it works, i did my trunk, rear deck, rear seat with it and i cna tell a HUGE difference

i dont think everything i do is right and everything different is wrong, i just get annoyed when people use products made for one thing, for another thing...and as for sound deadener, performance, longevity, NO SMELL, quality all around, customer service, R&D to back the product.... Second Skin will never be able to be beat...especialy by some roofing sealant
