Well, I was hoping to have this accomplished for this year with the huge changes that occured...but realistically it wouldn't have happened.
I decided to start on this project now, since it's nice and warm out, I can get alot accomplished before I ruin the car, and this way I can enjoy the season without having my car underconstruction yet again.
I am making a widebody kit custom made by myself. I picked up a set of quarter panels that Jeff got for me a while ago (thanks again buddy), and I started my basic shape/mold off of them. I am then adding 2 inches to the molds. I will be adding a section onto my doors aswell, and the fenders will not have the z3 inserts anymore...it just wouldn't flow right.
Anywho, I've started on the passenger side quarter panel so far. I will need to also make a mold of the sides of the front and rear bumpers as I will be extending those too, so the whole car is widened. This will take a long time to complete, but I have made good progress in 2 days so far.
I only have 2-3 layers on so far, I will be adding another 4-5 layers to insure the widebody has alot of strength...maybe even another 1-2 layers from behind aswell because after the sanding I will lose quite a bit aswell.
oh yes...did someone say tail light swap?
can you guess which tails these are?
I am going to the junkers tomorrow to look for a spare trunk so i can do some prep work on the spare trunk so i don't ruin my current one.
s2k tails? I dunno, either way can't wait to see the widebody done
Looks crazy Vince, I know it will turn out great!
Keep us updated!
nice. Interested and seeing how u incorporate the tails with the wide body.. but honestly.. i woulda loved to see u come out with the widebody made out of metal.. but good work so far. interested in see how itll all come together.. esp with how it is designed in with the sides.. also.. u need to just wrap the whole car in c/f..
i just hope you finish it b.c it would look amazing
it would be a shame to see you leave it like some

thanks so far guys.
Jeff (bagedfire) was originally going to make my the widebody from fiberglass, then later we discussed doing it from metal. He did start on one of the spare fenders I had in metal, but we were just too busy to go any further. Then we discussed going back to fiberglass. In the end, as you can tell I went with fiberglass.
this project WILL BE COMPLETED for sure. It was on the back burner for over 1.5 years and I said to myself, if i don't start now, I never will do it! I took on a 2nd job to help pay for my materials, and new toys for next year.
I am acutally planning on doing something with carbon fiber and the widebody...but I will explain that later on in the process of the build.
The tails would clutter the back end of the car since they are almost 2x as long as the sunfire tails. I will be moving the licence plate to the rear bumper instead of on the trunk.
they are altima tails.
looks good man........hope it turns out well

im not too fond of the sharp edges on the body line your goin with, but good luck with it.
if that didnt make any sense what i was trying to say is that your widebody will look too out of place. i think it needs to be smoother looking and run with the existing body lines more.
but once again good luck with it.....im not meaning to bash your idea.
i'm baaaaack!!
Very cool!

im guessing either mx6 or mx3 tails? thats gonna look nuts cant wait to see when this is done. your car amazes me more everytime i see it.
The sharpness of the body lines will be toned down more later on...especially once I begin to mold it to the car. I am just making the panels ahead of time so when it comes time to start the actual body work, it will save me time.
I am making the mold of the rear bumper right now too. Once it is cured, I will pop off the mold, and begin to mold it to the 1/4 panel piece I made. Again, reason why I am extending the bumpers aswell, is because I'd like to see the whole car wide...not just the 1/4 panels and fenders...I want the whole car to flow nicely together.
two pics of the rear bumper progress:
you're all wrong on the tails
think older
looking sweet man...like those tails alot
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...

Good luck with that, Its a lot of work and if you do it right it will take a lot of time. BTW I think that vent looks way too big but if you like it thats all that matters.
