SiLvEr - It's extremely easy, actually. All it takes is some transparent red vinyl and about 15 minutes of your time. As for legality, I dunno. I've been followed by 2 county sheriffs since I did it and have had no problems whatsoever. I am going to try to find and alternative though so I at least have some kind of reverse lights.
Sam - As far as the back end goes, I agree. I'm not a huge fan of the 03+ look. I did this just to set my car apart from all the rest here for now. It's just a temporary fix. I already have a set of Toyota tails sitting in my garage. I'm just waiting until I get an 02 trunk deck and new spoiler (and the paint work on them) so I can do it all at once.

its cause u werent backing up to them.. If u were backing out they would prolly notice more cuz i know it sounds strange but cops arent familar with Js.. they wont notice unless ur right next to another one and telling them to find whats different.. Hell i have a fully shaved trunklid and its even just base coated black.. so its not the same color as the car and i have had no problems but i havent backed up right infront of a cop for them to notice...
btw it looks good. i would see about aybe cutting some taillight harnesses off a junker and wire them into the brake lights and mount them like reverse light hole. Then just find a new place to mount some reverse lights if u want.
Looks good. Very subtle, I had a hard time noticing it at first, I'm sure a cop wouldn't notice at all. If it is illegal, just don't back up in front of a cop.

Get the silver bowtie to put on, looks so blah like that. Good for you being original though.
mold in some fire reverse lights in your bumper...that might look alright
but i def like that rear end...hated them at first but they are starting to grow on me.

2. Get rid of the film covering your backup lights
3. Leave the tails alone. They are part of what sets the 03-05's apart from the rest of the cars. Besides that, they blend in fine with your red body.
4. Leave the bowtie off. There is a kid up in Canada that has a silver car with big spoked wheels, black mirrors and door handles, and a big bowtie on the rear. Have a look at that car, it will convince you to leave yours just the way it is.
Your car is perfect.

It would be awsome if you got the reverse light to light up when you hit the brakes, so there are two brake lights. Then install reverse lights by the lisence plate. (I hate how theres only 1 brake light and its so small.

As some people mentioned, I am thinking about turning the existing reverse lights into taillights. I'll probably just use a subtle white LED strip along the bottom edge of the trunk deck for new reverse lights. That way they won't even really be seen until they light up.
dougall - I just used some transparent red vinyl I picked up to use as an overlay. I took my time with it to make sure it was cut to fit PERFECTLY, then I just made sure to apply it smoothly. That's about it, it did end up matching damn nice if I do say so myself.

DEF make them into tail lights would be HOTT!!! unless they didnt light up at similar brightnesses and color then it would sux
and it is illegal at least in cali to not have white reverse lights.
