Nitrous Installed (Pics inside)
Saturday, February 18, 2006 10:50 AM
Well guys finally finshed up on the nitrous kit, just in time for next saturday's dyno day planning on running a 50 shot to begin wiht just to get use to it, the reason in one of these pics the bottle pressure is so low is becasue the tank is outside and in the cold, need to get a bottle heater for sure within the next week or two, but until then i'm going to be using a power invertor and a heating pad, that should work just fine. Well on to the pics le tme know waht you think.

I have an activation switch, and a WOT switch and push button inline so that I must be at WOT and push the button for it to shoot.

With your bottle installed that way, its gonna run like crap. Turn it around before you start having problems. All you are gonna do is end up sucking in air.

Its not just because its a ecotec. Wet shot is made so it can run on a completely stock motor. Camaro guys have been doing it for years. I ran it on my talon. Lots of people run it on the 2.4 the 2.2OHV all stock.

It actually should probably explain this in the install directions that came with your kit.

Inside of the bottle there is a pick up tube. The tube is designed to pick up liquid N2O at all times, so even when the bottle gets low you still get a good shot of N2O. To do this the pick up tube inside goes down to the bottom of the bottle, usually leaning towards the backside of the bottle (opposite of the label) as well. If the bottle is not mounted propperly it won't pick up liquid N2O at all times. Hope that makes sense...

This is very true.. but this typically won't be a concern on a <200WHP car..
Test it out. If it spits, it takes all of 5 mins to turn around The bottles are canted upward for a reason.. it will resist a decent amount of foward acceleration.

If I were you, I would listen to this guy regarding your setup. He is very knowledgable in N2O setups.

Q: Which is the best position to mount a nitrous bottle?
A: Nitrous bottles come with siphon tubes and, in order to maintain proper nitrous pickup, it is important to mount the bottle correctly. We recommend mounting the bottle at a 15 degree angle with the valve end higher than the bottom of the bottle. The valve end of the bottle should point to the front of the vehicle and the valve knob and label should face straight up.

Being a less than 200HP car has absolutly nothing to do with the subject at matter here. If he leaves it the way it is now, he will have problems.

Turn bottle 180 degrees so the valve faces the front of the car and as for the angle, the top of the bottle being set higher than the bottom. So switch brackets and turn the bottle around, your done.

ah i plan on turning the bottle the next day there is, and plus if they did pull me and ask to search my trunk it wouldn't be hooked up the only reason i had it hooked up then was for pictures and to test it out....plus if they ask to search your trunk you can ask for a warrant thats simple as that....

I can't speak for every state's laws but here in Mi. nitrous is not illegal to have in your car. It is illegal to use on the street, but not illegal to have. I've been pulled over probably over 50 times with my bottle mounted as my center councel and never got a ticket for it.

up yours ass, i know my share of @!#$, and i also knew that they are not illegal when not hooked up, but there are complete dicks out there that will still get you for anythign, cops can ticket you for anything they want to and it's there word agiast yours, plus the judge is most likely on there side, i've been pulle dover in my beater and a cop used the ol' probable couse on me and searched my car, then he woudl tell me up and down that if i had N2O on my car i'd go straight to jai, at that time i dind't know the laws very well, and now i'm agianst all that BS N2Ol anythign you do that is illegal can be used against you is probable cuase, no turn signal, red light run, speeding, brake light out ect. even if the bottle is unhooked all the cop has to do is wrie down that it was hooked, it doesm't matter.
