Pics of my Class Glass OEM trunk lid painted

It fits almost perfect for a fiberglass piece, but it'll do. My bumper is sagging right there at the driver side for some reason so it makes the gap look bigger and more uneven. I still haven't drilled and installed the lock yet. Heres a few overall pics of my beater/daily driver/autocross toy...

What you can't see is a complete Tokico D-Spec suspension kit, front and rear Addco sway bars, an RK Sport rear shock tower brace, and the Baer/Hawk/Russel brake setup from Aarons GP. This car is defintely fun to drive.

The fiberglass piece weighs about half what the metal stock piece weighed, and only a few lbs. more than a carbon fiber piece. I didn't necessarily buy it for the weight savings though.

Than why did you buy it? the only way to tell it isn't stock is the fitment. which needs alot of work.

Well, my car was backed into by an apparently lifted truck in a mall parking lot, which damaged my stock trunk lid beyond repair. The cost for a new one would have come out of my pocket and the Class Glass piece was a few dollars cheaper than an oem metal piece. I'm not too worried about the fitment since this is just my beater. It does fit better than most carbon fiber pieces i've seen. Like I said previously, its only on the driver side that needs a little work, and i'm gonna do that this weekend.

no offense but i dont mean to sound like a ahole but you do realize a truck lid from a junkyard would of cost like $50-$100 USD

would have went stock imo. doesnt look like the bumper is sagging either in that picture if you look at the lining up with the tail lamp filler, just looks like the trunk fits like crap, and the lights fit like crap in the trunk. all imo

I would have picked up a stock lid at a pick-n-pull in my area, but all the ones there were f-ed up just as bad as my stock piece. And they wanted $100 for one. The only place the fiberglass piece doesn't line up properly is at the driver side taillamp filler area. I just need to adjust the fitment on the lights, and it'll look a little better. And like I said earlier, I'm not too worried about it fitting perfectly. Its better than having a trunk lid that is all @!#$ up and won't even open. My car definitely ain't no show car, thats for sure.

Im pretty sure youre supposed to cut a hole before paint.

Pics hide so many flaws, especially low res jpgs on the Net. But to me it fits like crap. The whole drivers side needs to be extended. The left inner tailight recess is too high.

ok i understand that "carbon fiber is meant to be painted" and is for weight reduction... but heres my thought... there is not enough weight reduction switching from a stock trunk to that carbon trunk to justify what you spent on the trunk plus paint.... just for it to look stock again. you would have been better off geting a $20 trunk lid from a yard and painting that. it would have at least fit better. that weight reduction isnt going to do much other than make your trunk lid fly up faster when you open it.

I've held mine in my hands before when i removed it from my car, but since i didn't weigh it i'm looking for the "exact weight". I know it weighed a lot more than my c/f lid.

32lbs 8oz.......

j/k, I have no clue........

and it fits for crap......... ALWAYS test fit any aftermarket pieces before painting them........ that way if it fits like the one you have, you can send it back, and hope for a better fitting one.

Car-Part

I guess its to late, but next time, check out that site....... they have them for as low as $50 plus shipping..... probably in your color..... saving on paint as well.

Fitment is an issue that the weight saveings doesn't offset, sorry. On the plus side the paint turned out great ! If I were you I'd try shimming it or checking the springs on the hinges to see if loosening them would help any.

Good Luck.

dam guys , ease up

he couldnt find a good trunk lid , and was able to get that lid cheaper , than he could get another trunk lid , for

then you all bitch about minimal weight savings , when that isnt the main reason he got the trunk lid

no one bitches about the weight savings , when someone gets a c/f trunk lid

other than the drives side needing some work it doesnt look to bad

no that it matches my cav , LOL
