First Update Of My Cav...
Thursday, December 08, 2005 9:45 PM
Alright, well I'm new to j-body and thought that I should at least share with you guys what I have done to my Cavalier since I bought it. By all means, I know it's not much, but I won't do anything else to it until the winter is over...

This is the backview

And here's the front

The guts

The center console

I still have another switch to add, but this is where I house my neon switch and soon my driving/fog light switch

My short-shifter and knob

The right side of the dash

The left side of the dash

My subs and back neon at night. The subs are the same, just different model years.

Night shot of the capacitor

And finally, night shot of the left tail light

Enjoy!

IMO I would ditch the stripes and the chrome altezzas. They just don't look good to me. But otherwise, its lookin pretty good.

those stripes arent painted are they? if thats vinyl than you did a damn good job of getting them on the rear bumper.

wait n/m... i see the wrinkles in it now... should have looked closer before i posted. anyways, i think what you have so far isnt bad... just lose the stripes and maybe consider clear coating the interior.

clear coating is just putting a coat of clear gloss (comes in a spray can) on top of all the parts that you have already painted red. it makes it shiny and it helps the paint last a lot longer and helps to keep it from chipping. It overall is a good thing to do, and by the looks of it, I dont think you used any.

As for the stripes, to each his own, its not my personal taste, but if you like them, then dont get rid of them. the only real reason to loose them other than personal preference is the fact that you have quite a few wrinkles on the back bumper where you applied them, and the front bumper doesnt line up with the lines on the hood straight.

Id say get some wheels, kit it, and drop it, and maybe get some subs that match....

for your first time pics, not bad....people have posted worse. Just dont let some of the people on here who are rude with their comments bother you. Everyone has their own opinion, some people just dont know how to put it without hurting other peoples feelings!

oh and welcome to the org~!

oh my... First of all what are you trying to accomplish with it?

Are you trying to go fast? Ur pretty much screwed there

Or are you trying to make it a show car? I dont understand that but If you are i'd also suggest losing the tails and stripes and starting over

what the @!#$ is wrong with you guys? How do any of you have the right to tell the guy to start over. Maybe HE likes his car the way it is and doesnt want to change it.

Chris,
Do what u want to with it man. If you like the way it looks keep it that way cause its your car man not any of these other guys'. the paint on the interior looks fine all you need to do is add a couple of coats of clear and you are set. Nice looking job for starters so keep up the good work.
