New Seats - Any Guesses Where They Came From?
Sunday, September 18, 2005 1:54 PM
For the most part, I like to keep this car somewhat stock looking when modifying it. I found these seats and knew they'd be perfect, right down to the color and side bolsters. I don't think anyone has ever used these in a J before (to my knowledge.) Any guesses as to what they came from?

This past Spring, my buddy and I went up to a salvage yard near the Adirondacks (in Utica) to pick up a Solara V-6 for the engine transplant in his MR-2. Well, I got to poking around the yard and found this 2004 GP GT with 14K miles on it. Interior was MINT (still smelled new), and the guy gave me such a ridiculously low price on the seats, I had to get them.

The service is so great up there, I actually went with them again for my supercharged 3.8 V-6 that I'm swapping in this winter.

I knew it was a Grand Prix, they look like the ones in my sister in law's car! They look awesome in your car too.

It's a four banger, you gotta bang it four times to get it goin'....

Marco:

I have a fire extinguisher because when you're custom-fitting fuel components, spraying nitrous, braking hard and just generally driving a car hard, it's better to be safe than sorry. All the members of our shop/business have one, actually.

azncav:

Actually, they went in remarkably easy. I used a spare set of brackets out of a Z24. With the GP seats, I unbolted/cut off all the slider hardware and wiring. I pulled out the bolts that originally held the seat to the sliders and put in longer ones. The two in the front dropped right into the Z24 brackets, and in the back, all I had to do is drill a different hole on the plate on one side for the bolt, and then tack-weld the other side. VERY easy install, to tell you the truth.

^^^ The original bolts holding them GP seats in place were fun, weren't they chris? GM and their tack- welds to hold them in place. I wonder if ryan found the nice burn holes in that blanket from the grinder. LOL...... J/P... Next sat lemme know if you want to hit up wacky Wyatts or somthing. I need out of my house and away from these chores...

Alright, and everyone is entitled to there own opinion. But in MY opinion, they match a lot more than if I went out and bought black Recaro's, or something that was grey and black. At least these are an offshoot of graphite.

Yeah, they really are comfy/soft. The metal in the sides even kinda wraps around, keeping you a lot more "in place" than our stock seats.
